We stayed in Sparrow, a spacious, beautifully furnished rustic duplex cabin surrounded by tall trees, many just leafing out in early spring. It was a short walk to the main lodge for a delicious breakfast, surrounded by every conceivable book on Sedona history, wildlife, birds and plants. A small fire burned in the breakfast room fireplace on cool mornings. It was also a short walk to Oak Creek where I went swimming in snow melt. That washed off the stunning red dirt we acquired on two long hikes at nearby canyons and the Katchina vortex. This is a very tranquil place. You can find complete isolation (but never total quiet, as Oak Creek is a constant companion, whispering to you as it rushes down from Flagstaff), or you can enjoy the company of others in the beautiful public areas--inside, in the main lodge, or outdoors in a series of patios and green spaces. This is a real refuge from the bustle of uptown (and downtown) Sedona. Yet very close.
