Summary: horrible customer service, comforter smelled of urine and the heated pool was freezing. More details? Read on.
Picture this, Memorial Day Weekend in Sedona, who could ask for a more beautiful location. On the way to the hotel, about 1 pm, I called and said we were almost there, could we get an early check in, the voice of Roz from Monsters Inc says, "We have too many rooms to clean - so no." Nice - as a frequent hotel-visitor, I am accustomed to, "come on over, we'll see what we can do - if anything, you can leave your luggage and we'll get you checked in later." This was "no." Nice. So, we did our Sedona thing, Crescent Moon Ranch, Red Rock State Park, got red-mud muddy and filthy wanting a quick shower before an early dinner (had my 5 year old daughter and 70 year old father with me). Remembering the voice of Roz telling me no- we went to Javelina Cantina (good food - in the Hillside shopping center) filthy. Fortunately, they are so used to crazy tourists they went ahead and seated us after looking us up and down, knowing just what we had been up to. So, we went to check in, and after requesting a room either close to an elevator so my Dad could get up to our room, we were placed on the second floor with no easy way to the room without going up 3 (count'em 3) flights of stairs. All rooms at ground level were taken - lovely. We got into our room to change into swim suits to swim in the "heated" pool. As a person who hates cold, I was relieved when I heard it was heated. When I got into the pool, my lips turned blue and I got out. With the pleading of my 5 year old, I got back in and went to lean on the nearest "heated" jet. Every 3 minutes, a spurt of warm water would shoot out and then cycle back to cold. So, instead of subjecting my entire family to cold swimming water, my family (with a very upset child in-tow) went back to our room. We got our pj's on and snuggled down to get a movie and fall asleep. When I laid down and pulled the comforter up, it smelled like urine, yes, urine. At that point, with my less than stellar experience with the customer service at the hotel, I simply took the comforter off, used the spare blanket from my car and went to sleep. The next morning, we got up and went to breakfast and finish our sight seeing. We were walking around Bell Rock and it was getting close to check out time so I called again to ask if we could get a hour later check out so we could finish up at that area without rushing back. Again, the customer service was horrible - no, no late check outs- too many rooms to clean. So, my 5 year old and 70 year old hiked ourselves back to the car, packed up and was out 1 minute before checkout. In this economy, one would think that every customer is valuable but Radisson does not believe so.
