Just for starters, if you NEED air conditioning, don't go to the Osa, period.. It is HOT.
That said, this hotel is gorgeous, the staff is exremely friendly and helpful, the other guests were delightful, and the heat and rain keep the riffraff away.
My daughter and I went to the Osa to dive Cano Island. I have made a lot of exotic dives (Fiji, Palau, Truk, Cozumel, Roatan, Belize, Bahamas, Hawaii, etc.) but I saw and photograhed three "firsts" on our first dive: harlequin shrimp, a leopard eel and a huge octopus out in the open. On the first dive of the second day we had a huge school of enoumous striped barracuda (yes, they did block out the sun) and a large manta ray. Hard to throw rocks! Our other excursions were top notch too: Hiking in Corcovado and the Corcovado Canopy Tour.
The staff went out of their way to make guests happy (Carlos scrambled at the last minute to get my daughter on the night "Bug Lady" tour...and he did it), and we enjoyed several evenings of dinner with Brad.
The rooms are lovely; I got a cardio vascular workout going up to the room but I probably needed it anyway. Good hard showers.
A highlight was watching the white faced monkeys gear up to steal bananas from the kitchen and giving Coco, the amazing house dog, a hard time.
Meals (except breakfast) served family style, plentiful and DELICIOUS. Honestly, the best tuna I have ever eaten was served the first night.
If you are looking for a great base to see and experience Peninsula de Osas, this is it. We'll go back.
