“Will recommend for family vacation”

Mountain Side Inn

9 Feb 2008

The staff was very friendly and informed us of sites to see in the area that we would never have known about. We extended our stay there and will be going back.
The rooms were clean and very spacious.

“Bad Service!!!”

Mountain Side Inn

17 Jul 2007

We were there for a wedding in town. Our group had a bunch of rooms. One person was rude to nearly everyone in our party. She was rude when people checked in, she was rude when we had problems with our key cards, she was rude a week before when the people who set this up went up to check on the rooms (they had lost some of the reservations). "She was too busy to deal with them".
I tried calling the General Manager to get this resolved and she said she would take care of it by sending out a "letter of apology" (never happened), and by calling the Parents of the Bride (who set up everything) and apologize to them (which again never happened). I would not recommend this place to my enemies let alone my friends.

I do remember this incident and I did do something about the girl at the front desk the next day when I was informed. I kept in touch with the grandmother of the bride and I thought everything was worked out. This lady that had a problem with opening the door was drunk and our employee was rude because she got tirered of running up the hill to open the door for this person. I did speak to the young lady and told her that I was sorry for my employees attitude and that I would do something about it. I am very glad that I learned and took the time to respond. This really does bother me because I just took over the place with my owner at this time. We both were real new to the business.

This hotel is basic but meets needs for a short overnight stay. The hotel has seen better days, but is reasonably well maintained. No ice machines, ice is available from lobby, but this is closed 11pm to 7am. Interent access is via an old PC with limited speed and software, no security or anti virus.
Locomotive can disturb sleep, ours went past at 2am and sounded its horn every 2-3 minutes for 30 minutes as it passed.
Compact pool but was never crowded, and hotel is within walking distance of a quaint town with history.

The room was great for location, amenities etc. especially considering the low rate! Nilton at the front desk was exceptional with his knowledge and hints for tours and sights for our visits in the city and the Canyon. He went out of his way to ensure we have a great time!
Only comment on hotel room was the fact the carpet did turn our socks black. We had read this comment in another review prior to our visit but witnessed it first hand once we got there.
