Drove to the Grand Canyon..and yup..it was too late! It was nightime, so we drove back to Williams (about an hour) and pitched up at El Rancho for the night.

It's a fantastic stop-over joint, some good hearty steak houses close by and the Pine Country Restuarant for some good ol' home style breakfasts.

The Motel itself, is very clean, budget friendly and very cosy and the staff also clean and friendly !

Great room amenities (fridge, microwave, coffee maker, video recorder) and a clean and nice size room. Stayed here three nights as a base for the Grand Canyon and the service was friendly and helpful - making reservations for us for the train from Williams, recommendations and coupons for restaurants. Good value and one fo the better looking motels in Williams.

I give the El Rancho (hope they never change that name) a five for its category of lodging. Face it, this is not a swanky hotel. However, it merits a five on economy, cleanliness (and I'm picky), courtesy, room extras, (frige, microwave, coffee maker, lap top use, smoking and non-smoking rooms), good mattresses, location, parking, and a retro-design subtext. Haven't we all had enough of impersonal franchises? The El Rancho is cool.

The first thing I would say about this motel is its low price. We paid $57 dollars including tax for a double room. The room was clean and comfortable. We felt like the owner (Maureen- very helpful) really cared about her guests and made an effort to make them feel welcome. TV, a/c (although not needed, as it was rather cool), coffee maker, fridge and microwave oven available. Walking distance to Williams town centre. Great stay. Would stay here again with pleasure, as the motel is situated right opposite a forest, so you can let your lungs fill up with true fresh air smelling of pines!
