“Deluxe room - but nothing deluxe about it”

Quality Inn Mountain Ranch Resort

We booked a deluxe room for the 2-nights stay and paid nearly $125/night for it. But have to admit there was nothing deluxe about the room. The only good thing about the hotel was the outward appearance and the evening lighting. The room was not a penny worthier than a Super8 or Motel6 room that we could have gotten for much below $100/night -
1) with stained comforters and uncomfortable bed
2) the wash basin all torn and stained,
3) the tub which had dirty corners and
4) extremely noisy plumbing

The stains and dirt was visible even in the poor lighting avaialbe and we could only imagine how it would look like in bright light.

One would assume that for this kind of pricing they would provide complimentary breakfast, but no. Only thing we could appreciate was the restaurant which seemed decently priced.

“My worst night ever…”

The hotel looked welcoming when we arrived and that was the only good thing about it. The hotel room was very dated and smelled old (stale). When we made reservations we asked for a king bed and were told they didn’t have any, so two queens were our best choice. Well there was nothing queen about those beds. Not only were they small you could also feel the springs in the mattress. The blankets were thin, old and worn just like the towels. This was by far the worst night I’ve ever spent at a hotel. I tried getting sleep but with springs digging into my back and an A/C that rattled all night it was impossible. If you’re ever driving through Williams and want to stay at a nice hotel, just keep driving past the Quality Inn Mountain Ranch Inn.

“Shabby...not Chic”

After a long drive from California and a cruise through the cute town of Williams, we headed to "The Ranch." Normally we stay in Flagstaff but we were trying something different. We won't make that mistake again...This place is marginal at best. It appears some severe cost cutting measures have been taken that directly affect guest comfort. The place is shabby from the first moment you open your "motel" room door (this is in no way a resort and certainly not a hotel). The room smelled stale and old. I did like the double door, back door and front door, openings so that I could vent things out (the windows did not open). Beware that this appears to be a working ranch and with that you get plenty "natural" odors from the animals so venting was a mute point. The bedding was dated and there was a hole in a pillow with the stuffing falling out. My children used the pool which, while small, worked for them. It did *not* appear to be heated as they, as well as other guests, spent most of their time in the small hot tub. No towels at the pool so they used their room towels. We settled down to watch TV...the picture on the screen was snow filled and we could barely view the show - all the channels were like this. Up early and getting ready to leave ASAP, I headed for the shower. The shower had a very low flow head, the kind that stings you when you take a shower, but keeps water costs down. Followed by an exfoliation due to the sandpaper like towels I was ready for breakfast which is not included in the $114 bill.

“Basic hotel, but nice and quiet”

This hotel reminded me of a place my grandparents would stay. It's basic and no-frills, but it's still nice and clean.

The front lawn looks like it would be great for travelers with children. There was a basketball court, volleyball court, swimming pool, etc. However be advised that the pool is very, very small.

The hotel is located several miles from Williams, but that wasn't a big deal as the hotel is right off the interstate.

Were originally supposed to stay Friday and Saturday, but our flight was delayed out of O'Hare and we did not want to make the drive from Sky Harbor to Williams in the middle of the night. The hotel allowed us to change our stay on Friday night from two nights arrving Friday to one night arriving Saturday even though there was a 48 hour cancellation. This was a gracious gesture that was very appreciated. We stayed at a Sleep Inn at the airport before making the AM drive to the Grand Canyon. We spent all day there and got some great shots in the evening sun and some breathtaking shots of sunset.

We arrived at the hotel very late in the evening Saturday. So late that I was sorry I was not able to take advantage of some of the excursions that they offer. Apparently the hotel is on a ranch and they offer several adventures including a horseback riding and other things. The stables were right behind the hotel, but we could not see much because of how late we arrived. We were the last ones to arrive because the front desk said, "Ahh, you must be our last reservation. Luckily this is not the amazing race and you don't have to go home. Your room is ready to go!" I found the front desk agent to have a good sense of humor and very pleasant and knowledgable.

The hotel's restaurant had closed for the evening, and the wedding reception upstairs was still in full swing, but the desk agent could sense our hunger and before I could ask, he listed all of the restaurants in Williams where we could get a bite to eat before they closed. He was right too. The restaurants in town all locked up at 10pm. I was able to get some food at around 9:50pm and they promptly turned off the drive thru lights as soon as I got my order.

We arrived at night, so the drive up to the hotel could be a little tricky on the windy driveway, but it has great curb appeal. Our room was unusually large and very quiet. The entrance setup is unique with the upstairs room entrances facing the highway (front side) and the downstairs entrances (ground level) facing the back of the buidling. However, all the stairs were accessed from the back, so parking was difficult. The wonderful evening breeze made it nice to stand overlooking the valley from the porch-like balcony/terrace/hallway. The wedding reception was in a seperate part of the building near the desk and restaurant, but we never explored that part of the hotel since we were tired after a long, but awe inspiring day at the Grand Canyon. We retired soon after check-in.

We left near dawn the next day and took the scenic route to Sedona. I highly recommend this drive in the AM as the sun rises! We scheduled a jeep tour with Pink Jeep Tours and enjoyed that thoroughly, but it you deal with neck or back pain, or easily suffer whiplash, this is not an adventure for you. It's a Jeep thing. You wouldn't understand.
