The hotel has an a great appearance both inside and outside. It has great potential. Very comfortable surroundings. Many of the staff were excellent but others seemed unhappy. When booking by phone, it took several phonecalls, as no one answered the phone. When I left a message, no one got back to me, I had to ring again. Not good for business!
The good parts were the staff in the bar were excellent, attentive, gave great effort to our requests, and the food was very good. Breakfast in the room was very good, though coffee was cold one morning.
One exceptionally annoying aspect was that there was no internet for a large amount of our three day stay, and as this was not a complete holiday and I had a lot of work to do, I am way behind. No room telephone for the first day, nor tv; it took hours to have someone attend to these. The rome was freezing the first night, we did get blankets and the heat was turned up for the night. These items should be foreseen by the hotel management and dealt with as routine. On the last night another receptionist offered us a room with better internet access, this had not been suggested previously. Also we were told that the system had broken down for a morning, but this didn't account for no internet for most of our stay.
The Spa was a delight and whoever runs this should be commended, very professional, pleasant and great service.
The Gym is excellent, very well run, though the staff look very unhappy.
This is the only hotel in the Ballincollig area, so perhaps the monopoly says it all? Such a pity. However, I would give this hotel another chance. It was a pleasant stay in many ways and my patience is great.
