If you want chic boutique, this is not the hotel for you. If you want peace & tranquility in the middle of Spain's biggest port city, this is just up your street. With ample free parking, friendly reception staff, & clearly signposted throughout the town, staying here was easy and stress-free. I enjoyed an enormous room with the luxury of the bathroom and toilet in separate en-suites, a huge cast-iron balcony overlooking the immaculate gardens (from which I could even hear an owl hooting at night!) & the breakfast was more than sufficient.

The hotel is a classic, very traditional and although my room was "dated" to say the least, it was spacious, clean, quiet & provided everything I needed as well as being good value and convenient.

This is a beautiful hotel and worthy of a stay. Like many we found ourselves here for the night before taking the ferry to Morocco. The Ferry is walking distance which mkaes it nice. This hotel is situated with great grounds and views and is a stunning place. Yes the rooms themselves could use some updating, but they are clean . The hotel itself is gorgeous and the break fast was very good with a great selection. The staff was very nice too.

Our stay at Reina Cristina was great. The price was hard to beat, and it was a relatively convenient location. It's just a short walk to the bus station for trips to Gib, or to get in and out of town. There is a great market in the center of town if you're spending a day in Algeciras.

The hotel itself was on a grand estate, and you could tell that the place had a prestigious history. It has hosted presidents, prime ministers, and other world leaders. The hotel has lost some of its original lustre, but all in all, it's still a nice place. The mini golf was silly, the pool was nice. Our room was a beautiful old room with a nice patio overlooking an orange tree and the well kept grounds.

The service was pretty good, the staff didn't speak perfect english, but between their english and my choppy spanish, we got by. It is their country afterall. I would recommend avoiding the buffet though. It was pretty poor. Breakfast was included with our stay, so we ate it, but the food was only moderately good, and it wasn't kept very well stocked. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere to eat Dinner in town.

If for no other reason, stay here because it's cheaper and nicer than Gib hotels, and only a short bus ride away from the rock.

Used this hotel for a one night stay prior to catching a flight from Gibraltar. Location can only be described as an little oasis is a busy port. Nice grounds, plenty of car parking, and probably great for relaxing in the summer.
But our visit was in December and the weather was freezing - there was a lovely open log fire burning in reception but it was hard to make the room warm. They had provided an oil-filled electric fire in the bedroom but as the electric in the room goes off when you go out it meant the room was cold when we returned. The room was large and rather dated, but we slept well and the bed was comfortable. The overall impression was one of faded elegance but the lounges were empty and unused at the time of our visit so you weren't encouraged to hang around for a drink.
Food in the restaurant in the evening was typical international hotel standard and breakfast was of the same standard. All buffet service, with plenty of choice from hotplates. Unfortunately the surrounding area does not encourage one to venture out on foot to find a local restaurant. Not sure whether there are any unless you go right into the centre of Algeciras.
OK for one night, and certainly none of the noise problems reported in other reviews.
