Read the reviews and thought this would be a nice break. Wrong!! On arriving we went to our room and found this must be the smallest room in the hotel, there was only space for us to squeeze past each other. the lighting was terrible only two small lamps and one small light on the wall which did not give a good light . The balcony was also very small and at an angle one of us had to sit down first so the other could arrange their chair to sit , the view we had was of the road and this did get quite busy. The bathroom was quite small and had black mildew on the ceiling. The shower was O.K. nice and warm but bath far too small . the restaurant was fine but the food after the first day was not up to standard and was very bland. The hotel was not what I would expect from a three star, decoration and furniture in need of an uplift. The staff were friendly and the rooms were kept clean that is about all I can say is good about this hotel. The town of Nerja is lovely great for exploring and a good base. I will not be back.

Booked a week in Nerja mainly for the temperature and short flight time. Villa Flamenca Hotel looked really nice in the brochure, reviews weren't bad (7/10). Requested a double room but weren't overly bothered if we didn't get it. Arrived at the hotel, no rep to welcome us (her day off). When we entered our room my heart sank. It was tiny with a double bed, which almost filled the room. It also had a damp smell. We had to turn sideways to walk round to the 'balcony', which, when I opened the door it didn't look out onto anything other than a courtyard below which was no bigger than the room we were in. There was no other view. I suffered vertigo and claustrophobia all at once! We explained to reception that the room was too small and were made to feel it was our fault for asking for a double bed! We were then moved to another room facing the road. This was a bit bigger but smelled very musty. The bathroom had no window or a fan. It had a vent in the wall which seemed to join the wall of our built -in wardrobe and there was an awful damp smell in there. It was so bad I had to buy an air freshener spray. The food was ok but mostly lukewarm or cold. Would rather they cooked proper Spanish food than bad English. This wasn't a last minute booking so we paid almost the full brochure price, so a bit peeved that this felt like a 2 star hotel. There were some good points though. The pool and garden areas were very well kept and clean, and the staff were polite and helpful. The area the hotel is situated is very nice and quiet and I can't fault that. It would be a wonderful hotel if the rooms were redecorated and new bathrooms were put in (with proper fans), along with nice soft towels, not the ones we were given that had no absorbency left in them. A small fridge would be good also to keep bottled water in.

“Lovely Hotel”

Villa Flamenca Hotel

I stayed at the hotel in June 2007 and i must say that it was alot better then i expected from the reviews on here.
I would say that it is not really for young people. I am 17 years old and travelled with my boyfriend so we wantred a quiet holiday anyway but if you are looking for alot of nightlife then this is not the place for you.

The only downside to the location of this hotel is that the beach is down a very steep hill, Not for the elderly or disabled.

You cqan take a stroll in to town, It is only a 5minute walk, where you ill find shops and many restraunts.
My boyfriend had 2 tatoo's done in a shop over there, and they are both fine so if you want to get thisne then i recommend getting it done at the end of the holiday.

The food at the hotel is ok,nothing special. I would advise going self catering as half board gets a little boring.

All in all this hotel is better suited to older people but the young can enjoy it as well.

Please feel free to ask questions.

“Flamenca shock !”

Villa Flamenca Hotel

29 Oct 2007
11/11 found this review helpful

Villa Flamenca ! quaint, personal, 'family run feel', clean, friendly yes its a shock ! especially after reading some of the dodgy reviews? then actually staying there ! The picture painted in some reviews I was actually regretting booking ! then we went and it was lovely ! perfectly located in the quieter, cleaner end of the town all major attractions within easy walking distance. The staff are extremely discreet and very well mannered, informative and welcoming the rooms are spotlessly clean and kept that way by the lovely cleaning staff. The pool is perfect its a suntrap with thought out shaded areas the food available at the bar in the afternoon is nice YOU must see if you can finish the club sandwich. The breakfasts are great ! I can't believe they manage to serve so much variety in such a short space of time you are then free to leave for the day to explore which we did and it was fantastic ! We would return each afternoon to use the pool and bar then out again to sample a different restaurant each night ! the evening meals in house seem to have come in for some flack also ! again I'm beginning to wonder if we were in the same hotel ? all the options are there to use if you want and after that there is an even greater variety of restaurants ,shops etc in the town or along the coast ! and the constant reference to the 'hill' there are alternative routes to the beaches if you are handy with a map and there are excellent streetmaps and bus timetables on offer from reception ! Wonderfully atmospheric place with NO lager culture here and the entertainment can be a bit Phoenix nights but I think this is more down to the actual acts themselves NOT the hotel ! However the Flamenco troupe we watched on the Friday night raised the roof ! it was such a thrill to see real Flamenco danced correctly by such beautiful, proud and elegant people ! we sat stunned throughout the entire performance the vibrancy and power was tangible. So refreshing to visit and be amongst people who pride themselves on what they do the only time we did not enjoy ourselves was when we spent an evening in an 'english bar' complete with stodgey food and swearing staff ! I really thought i was back in England then ! I cannot highlight the Hotel enough ! its not a chicken shed like so many further down the coast and it was great very understated ! there was we felt a lot of wingey guests and regrettably all English.

“Great little Flamenca”

Villa Flamenca Hotel

7/7 found this review helpful

Looking for a great little traditional hotel in a lovely resort with very friendly staff at a very reasonable price then look no further. We went with our 22 year old daughter for a half term break and met loads of great people to talk to.
Nerja is a very small quiet and safe resort ideal for families or couples looking for a quiet time.
