Having booked a week's holiday (during which I was to celebrate my 60th birthday) I was in tears when I read the review from the person who stayed at this hotel over New Year. However I have just returned and have had a wonderful holiday at the hotel Villa Flamenca. The staff were outstanding, Craig (the Thomson's rep) was friendly and very popular with all the guests. He was knowledgable and by no means pushy. The choice of food was excellent at breakfast and dinner and the Gala dinner on the Friday surpassed all my expectations - as did the Flamenca show which followed.. We did not see all the entertainers but those whom we did see were very good indeed. We didn't hear one word of complaint from anyone who was there. In fact one couple with whom we spent some evenings were there for the third time in 14 months and they are going back in September!!! We also spoke to another lady who was living in the hotel and she had booked it because she had eaten there when she was on a self catering holiday last year. Our room was in the annexe. It was spacious and the beds were the essence of comfort. If you have booked a holiday at this hotel, please go and enjoy it. I honestly think that a lot of people book 3* hotels - at 3* prices - and look for 5* accomodation.

We arrived at the Villa Flamenca on Boxing Day. First impressions were disappointing. The hotel needs a good overhaul but other than that it must be remembered that it is an old hotel and very traditonally Spanish.

Good points: We met some really nice people, the very generous shorts flowed into the early hours, the entertainment was average but good fun.The rooms were clean.
Reception staff were polite, always helpful and spoke English fluently.

Bad points; The food was almost always cold, the coffee machine produced a mixture of coffee and chocolate, the toaster rarely worked. One morning the milk was sour.
My partner refused to eat there. I did and had no ill effects!!

The hotel is very noisy , mostly i think because of the internal design. i was grateful i didn't have to try and get small children to sleep.
The room we were in 421 was very small

The bar and waiting staff worked exceptionally hard. They could have benefitted from at least another 3 or 4 per shift.
It was rare to see them smile, but they were polite and helpful.

The hotel is at the top of a hill nicknamed 'Heart attack Hill'

We would definately go there again, but on a bed only basis.
There's plenty of places to eat nearby . Try the Potters Bar just over the road.
The beaches and area is lovely.

I would recommend it a place for fit [because of the hill] 40+.

There's nothing to entertain children or teenagers.

We were in room 301 for 7 nights from the 30th December 06.
The rooms were small but very clean and the bathroom was snug! The hotel furniture does need a little updating but it was far outweighed by the very friendly staff and good food. Plenty of choices for breakfast and evening meal, all hot and very tasty. The entertainment each night was better than the norm, eg sacha and neil kept us well entertained. The Gala Meal on New Years Eve and free bar was superb, excellent value for rhe money, thanks to Ramon and all his staff and not forgetting Thompson,. thanks for a great holiday. We are deffiently going to
go there again.

We arrived at the Villa Flamenca looking forward to a relaxing break after Xmas, unfortunately this was not to be! The beds were hard and lumpy, we had to ask for extra pillows to lie on. The bathroom was so small that we had to sit sideways on the toilet! Public areas were small and tatty and entertainment was awful, except for male singer on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. The food was easily the worst we have ever had in a Spanish hotel, overcooked and always cold, also very little choice. We had to have a meal out every lunchtime so that we could get by on a salad in the evening. Would definitely go to Nerja again, it's a beautiful place, but definitely NOT to the Villa Flamenca.
