viisted Nerja in May 2008 - usually the weather there at this time of year is fine. We got sunny days and heat but really windy for the whole 10 days we stayed...so a little disappointed. It was difficult to loung around for the day or make use of the outdoor pool with really stong winds. Also the outdoor pool wasn't heated which was particulary cold. The beach in front of the hotel was ok...not much sand but ok .
The hotel itself was in quite a good location - about a 10 minute walk to the Balcon europa and town centre. The hotel was clean and the gardens surrounding it were well kept. Staff there were really friendly and make a massive effort to smile and check you were ok. The evening entertainment was poor - having said that 99% of the hotel guests were retired and as me and my friend are 30 years, I guess we didn't enjoy the kind of entertainment retired people would enjoy. However, the holiday was to re charge batteries and the peace and quiet was nice. the food was ok for buffet style meals - I was worried being vegetarian that my choice would be limited and didn't really want to book half board even though this was the only option. However, the food wasn't bad giving massive choice and healthy options.
I requested a room away from the restaurant area and not on the ground floor. I'm glad I did as I think in the summer, you would certainly smell the cooking a lot if your room was close to the kitchens. I was happy with my room which had a nice sea view and was really quiet.
