We booked our holiday with Thomsons - a 2 week half board break to Nerja 3* and ended up here. We were shown to our room, a dingy bottom floor room at the back of the hotel. The room to be honest was foul, plaster hanging off the wall, broken doorframe, a massive cage on the door which didnt lock!!!! there was no light whatsoever in the room and the bathroom had a hideous smell of mould resembling cabage. i felt utterly depressed. first thing in the morning we were on the phone to thomsons who kept saying they would try and move us ring back later. all through the first 2 days we were ringing back, spending about £15 on the payphone! the reps in the resort were rude, making us feel as if we were a nusiance when actually we were genuinely unhappy with our hotel. The reception staff at the hotel were blunt and rude, in particular the female who ended up shouting at us in front of other guests!!! in the end we were allowed to move room after the first week. the food was pretty bad, there were about 3 options per night with no vegetarian option and the deserts werent worth bothering with. the rest of the staff seem to be ok, although dont be over friendly with a couple of waiters as they seem to get the wrong impression (even if you're staying with your boyfriend at the time!!!)
nerja is a great place but this hotel is around 2 miles from the centre = a hideous walk in the baking sunshine, especially on the way back up the huge hills!
the entertainment at the hotel is also awful. awful. we wanted to escape every night. same can be said about the pool side area, about 20 sunbeds to serve more than 200 guests - whats going on there.
overall i would say definitely visit nerja but NEVER this hotel. the ones in the centre are much nicer such as Balcon de Europa, and the Flamenco which is similar priced to the Nerja Club. Just dont do it!!!!!!

I have just returned and i can honestly say a very enjoyable time food was varied ,if you could'nt find something to eat then you should of gone for 4 star plus hotel. Towels changed daily, rooms cleaned daily , staff very pleasent. don't go by some of the reveiws excellent value for money. we will be back.

I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews on here - there seemed to be equal numbers giving bad and good reviews. The same things were coming up each time - lovely staff and good service, poor choice of food, some complaints about the condition of the rooms.

I would say that this is all fair, but that the need for redecoration and the limited choice of food did not spoil our stay. The hotel itself is friendly and busy - entertainment every night so if your room is facing inward then you can forget an early night! If you are a night owl anyway then not a problem!

Rooms are clean and service is great! The walls are indeed a bit too thin as one earlier reviewer mentioned which I did not like. The location could also be a problem - way out of town and a long walk up the hill - mind you again you soon get used to this!

I would not stay there again but had a very enjoyable holiday!

The room furniture is very old and worn - so is the bathroom

Very cramped and at times smoky and noisy

The food was the pits (see earlier reviews - the previous 3 to this are pure fantasy)

Apart from this Nerja is a lovely place to stay - just not in this hotel

How it ever got a 3 star rating I don't know - we booked it from a hotel website but every morning we came down to the lobby there was someone ranting or raving at a 1st choice or thompsons rep!!!
