We have just returned from a week spent at this marvellous hotel. We made a point of only booking for the week just in case it turned out we were not that keen on the place.

As it turned out, not only is Nerja a beautiful place to holiday but the hotel Carabeo provided us with the most comfortable and welcoming hotel we have ever stayed at. We loved Nerja but what truly made the holiday something really special was the hotel staff.

I am no expert on these things but the hotel itself is truly Spanish in its architecture both inside and out. The inside decor faithfully maintains its Spanish heritage and everwhere can be found the most fascinating artefacts and paintings.

The rooms are large, airy and extremely well maintained. The daily maid service was friendly and very efficient.

The service from all members of staff was amazing, we were treated like we had been there many times before and everyone, from the maid who served us tea or coffee at breakfast to the head waiter in the restaurant in the evenings, went out of their way to provide us with everything we asked for. This was all done every day and all day with a charming and honest smile from everyone.

As for the food in the restaurant, absolutely brilliant, best food we have ever had. A meal at this restaurant should be on many peoples list of 'things to do'.

Last but not least, Maggie, the lovely receptionist who patiently each day got her maps out and directed us to wherever we had decided to go that day. A big 'thank you' Maggie. Hope you read this.

A very over rated hotel definately not value for money in any respect. The rooms were nicely decorated - we had the garden room but it was noisy - there were sounds of machines running in the basement all the time.. The breakfast was average and a bit of a cheek when paying 130 euros a night to ask for 5 euros extra (not incl tax) for an egg!.

The Spanish staff were very friendly and helpful but the same could not be said of the English ones who should not be in the hospitaly business all in all very disappointed.

If you want a small well appointed hotel, able to give great service and attention, in a town that is thankfully not over run with mass tourism and package holidaymakers - then look no further.

Nerja has a great family orientated feel to it - relaxed with no yobbo behavior or presence. The hotel is spotless and very comfortable , and if you can get a room with a sea view and terrace (we had the el salon). then you will be in clover. Eating at the Michelin noted restaurant is a joy - don't miss the onion soup or sea bream if they are on - really superb.

Other tips - talk to jose on the front desk for where to see real spanish dancing with live music - non of the staged rubbish Plus we'd recommend the Thai restaurant in town as the next best place in to eat.

Warm and congenial hospitailty with gorgeous views of the Mediterranean from many levels.
I won't repeat the positive comments of others, I will just whole-heartedly confirm our agreement.
We found everything other travelers enjoyed and would recommend this charming small B&B without qualification.
Be ready to enjoy and leave reluctantly..
