Hotel Carabeo was everything I expected after a long honeymoon in which we visited over 7 cities throughout Spain.
HOTEL
------------
The hotel doesn't look very impressive from the outside, but once inside, it has a wonderful boutique charm. The pool area was very nice, but would be easily over crowded if there were more than 10 people lounging/swimming. Loved that the pool area was perched over the sea. The room was fantastic. It had comfortable beds and pillows. It also had a nice bathroom and a nice little deck. This was probably one of the smaller rooms in the hotel, which leads me to believe that the suites and balcony rooms are breathtaking. The free breakfast they served was the best we had in Spain. Jamon Serrano, Manchego, Tortilla, Fruit, etc. The hotel was kept very very very clean. The staff was friendly and if you need to speak English, some of the management was British so that can help if Castellano is not your forte.
LOCATION
----------------
We loved the location being that the main tourist areas were a few blocks away in either direction. This kept it quiet, but still was in a very accessible area. The beaches near the hotel are much better than the Burianna beach area which was too touristy and had no signs of Spain there. If you ventured outside of the tourist area ("little UK" we joked), that is where the real Spanish life is. The food is better, the language is Castellano, the people are natives of Nerja and you can see what a laid back life they live here.
