We stayed for a week in August with our 8 year old son. This was our first visit to Tenerife and our hearts sank as we travelled from the airport past miles of concrete. The resorts are not attractive. The hotel is well screened from the surrounding concrete and access is limited to guests only. The grounds and pools are an oasis. We had a standard room without the sea view located in a quiet area of the hotel. I would check the position of a sea view room if you do not wish to hear the evening entertainment (this would only be a problem if you are traveling with young children). If you can justify the cost of the upgrade the sea view is probably worth having particularly in the morning and evening. There is a choice of 6 restaurants but we ate principally in the buffet. Our 8 year old is a fussy eater but there was enough choice to keep him happy. Fish and meat is cooked on a grill whilst you wait and there is plenty of salad and fresh fruit. A hugh choice of other types of food. The buffet is also located on a terrace overlooking the hotel grounds out towards the sea and was a great place to eat both morning and evening. The service was excellent and the staff very attentive. Our towels and sheets were changed daily and the room well maintained. There are plenty of sun loungers although the usual towel placing going on fairly early in the morning (we just had to get on and do it ourselves). Access to the public beach is easy through a gate and if you are really lazy you can call a golf buggy to collect you and take you back to your room at the end of the day. The beach is black sand and gets quite busy. You also pay €10 per day to rent a sun lounger on the beach. The larger hotel swimming pools are salt water and unheated although a lovely temperature at this time of year. A large inflatable Viking ship was put into one of the pools for the children alternate days which our son loved. There was some fairly spirited play amongst the various nationalities particularly the Russians. The hotel has an observatory with a telescope which is open 3 nights a week at 9-30pm (just when you are finishing dinner). Our son loved looking at Jupiter and its moons and satellites passing over. The hotel caters well for very young children and teenagers but not so well for 'tweenagers'. We had a late return flight but the hotel allowed us to keep our room for the whole day.
