“Very relaxing holiday.”

The hotel was indeed fantastic. We (myself, husband, mother in law of 75, son 14 and daughter 6) stayed here in July and went primarily for a quiet and relaxing holiday. This hotel is ideally suited for just that.

The food was fantastic, the Italian restaurant had a slightly better breakfast in my view than the main restaurant. The Spanish restaurant had fabulous lunches, making it unnecessary to trek up to the main restaurant from the pool. The kids loved the snackbar and had lunch there most days.

The gardens were immaculate, as were the pools themselves. We did find that there were alot of cigarette butts thrown on the floor by the lower pol, which was sometimes left for days. There was a problem with the umbrellas and sun beds at the lower pool. It got so bad that I saw people lugging them into their rooms of an evening! No kidding, it happened. Also it seemed the norm to "bags" a bed or two, swan off to the town for the day and then return in the late afternoon. Most annoying and I wish the attendents did something about this. If going with a larger group in the high season, get up early if want to be sure of sun loungers with umbrellas.

The rooms were fabulous, just be carefull in the disabled rooms as the shower curtains on our visit were too short, flooding the bathroom which made the marble floor extremely slippery. The other rooms didn't have this problem as they had a bath with shower curtain hanging in it.

Get a second key for the room, you can get this for a deposit from the reception. It is especially handy if sharing the room with your teen (as we were) it gives them some freedom.

Taxis can be haggled with, the rate seemed to change on a regular basis and most would take more than 4 if there were children in the party.

We went on the Teide tour. It was interesting but I would advise hiring a car and going yourself as it will work out alot cheaper and to be honest with you, there is only so much pummice stone I can take photo's of and a tour bus stops every 10 minutes or so, making the trip last ALL day! We also went on the catamaran to see the Whales and Dolphins, this was lovely but you will need to take sea sickness pills if it is at all choppy and your stomaches are easily unsettled.

All in all, I can thoroughly recommend this hotel for a relaxing holiday. Younger teens might get a bit bored, my daughter loved the animation and kiddy disco in the evening. The animation team were amazing and deserved a raise!

“lovely hotel, poor location, food terrible”

we arrived at the hotel on 12/12/03 the hotel was beautiful, the grounds were equally as beautiful full of exotic plants and flowers. everywhere was splotlessly clean and the rooms very generous in size not cramped at all even with a childs bed and a cot! we didnt mind that we were in the middle of nowhere until we sampled the food in the mirador restaurant, words cannot describe the quality of the food,if you are used to eating out in good quality restaurants as we are i can only describe the food as disgusting, and it got significantly worse as the fortnight progressed.on several occassions we got a taxi to fanabe in ate in the local restaurants of which i can recommend several.the other down side to the hotel is that cosidering it's size it only had one bar inside, the seating area was not ample for the amount of guests and i would also say that if you are a non-smoker well you better get used to it as the place was full of it. the bar shut at 11.00pm so if you wanted another drink tough!! you had to go upto the square and buy one.in conclusion i would say lovely hotel shame about the food. we would not return unless the chef was sacked!!

8 of us have just returned from The Bahia Principe on 18th November! We were celebrating 2 of our groups 40th Birthdays while we were there!
This place is fantastic, the food was excellent, rooms immaculate and staff friendly! Although we only went on a short break, it was well worth the travelling! I read with concern some of the negative responses about the hotel, well forget them as every one in our group would go back again tomorrow! Needless to say we are all on diets now now!

“A Hotel with a difference”

We have arrived back from the Bahia Principe on the 13th November.
There were 6 of us, aged 61,62,27, and children aged 10,7, and our grandson who became 5 while we were there. This hotel is out of this world. Forget what the cynics have written about this hotel and experience it for yourselves. We found this hotel very unique. Not like your normal 4* hotel. This hotel is very much like a spanish village, with all the rooms in different coloured interconnecting buildings. The reception you received on arrival was wonderful. The reception staff and everyone who we came in contact with at the Bahia was polite and helpful. The hotel was spotless, with the grounds and swimming pool areas swabbed down twice a day, morning and night. The maids were always working around the main areas. The waiting staff, and bar staff were excellent. We ate mainly in the El Mirador restaurant and the food was plentiful, hot and varied. The childrens section was wonderful. My grandaughter is fussy, and has always survived on chips at the other 4 * hotels we have stayed in. This time she found something to suite her taste every single day. We never found the waiting staff or bar staff off hand, and the day we had our grandson's birthday, Thomas, the head waiter at the El Mirador restaurant and his staff pulled out all the stops to make a 5 year old feel special. The cake was wonderful, and the whole of the waiting staff singing happy birthday in Spanish was very moving. The swimming pools were varied in temperature. One almost bath temperature, the other two very cold. The children's mini club and play area was spotless and the animation staff very inventive and made the couple of hours the children spent with them exciting. Yes the entertainment was not to everyone's choice, but the snake man, and the person who did the tribute to Freddie Mercury were exceptional, Better than Freddie Mercury in our estimation. Everyone had a good time.
Drinks flowed freely, the shopping village had a good selection of goods, and although isolated, one did not feel the necessity to go to Playa del America, when we did, we were not impressed. We had brillant representative with First Choice, who was around every day, either morning or evening and when we went on the trips the english of the couriers were fantastic. This hotel is on the top of our 4* hotel list.
If you want something different, go to the Bahia Principe.

Fantastic Hotel -Deffo a 5*Read with interest the comments on your website before our 2 week stay commencing 17th October. Was slightly concerned to read complaints regarding paying for your drinks in 'The Square' - trust me you will welcome a Hour away from the bar - Cocktails on offer all day long and great to have Early Evening drink in the lobby bars watching the sunset.Entertainmaint in Square OK and is safe enough to send Children 12+ along on own anyway whilst you have your free drinks listening to Piano singer - disco and some entertainment in free area also and reps have enough enthusiasim to ensure Children are having fun! Start on your diet now ladies as the Food is excellent as are the rooms/service/cleanliness . Our only little complaint would be that even though the pools were the cleanist we have have any seen they were also the ccc oldest.Maybe a little more heat required for us English, talking of which the first Week sunbeds were ample, however our 2nd Week ( School Holidays ) we were the worst culprtits. The Germans may have started but we beat them hands down!!!People were even throwing shoes on to save! Come on pack up we are on Holiday and want a lay in!Worst point - only 2 buses into Playa per Day, go 10,11 return 4,5 - should be more.We had 5 in party and Taxi would have been £12 for just 1 way and 4 only in Taxi allowed. Thanks to all Staff if you read for 1st class set up and great dance you all did on Thursday's by the Pool.Enjoy all as 'The Ellis' Party did!!!!
