“Not as good as sister hotel Roca Navaria”

We spent five days at this hotel before travelling north to a wedding. Compared to it's sister hotel it is a little dated. In particular the bathroom in the ground floor room was very dated with an over the bath shower.

There is no spa and the gymnasium appears to be geared up for heavy weights use.

The hairdressers was closed for three weeks, inconvenient when attending a wedding.

The reception staff were only just obliging.

If you turn right as other people have said, there are better looking bars and restaurants, very expensive area and not very good quality.

The fish restaurant immediately opposite the hotel exit to the promenade was very friendly and good value. However, after talking to a local resident we found, probably the best fish restaurant on the island, called Masia del Mar in La Caleta, a short taxi ride away.

The area were were in, adjacent to the main building, was very noisy mainly due to hotel staff, i.e. chambermaids starting work at 7.30.

On the plus side the breakfast was excellent.

“Lovely break”

My husband and I (both pensioners - active!), have just returned from one week at this hotel. We had a room on the ground floor, overlooking the gardens and the pool area, so had an easy walk to swim, and our own loungers just outside our terrasse for relaxing on.
We would recommend going B/B as we did. You can then have a change of restaurant whenever you feel like it. We dined three times at the poolside restaurant which we really liked, very romantic in the evening, sitting by the water, listening to the waterfalls. The waiting staff there were, without exception, excellent. One night we had the buffet dinner, but found that unless you get there promptly after seven o'clock, some of the food runs out! I.e., we would have liked to have had some gammon or beef carved in front of you, but by 8 o'clock, it was all gone. No replacement came, so we had a stir fry done in front of us instead, very nice, but that is not the point. One night we ate in the Cupola restaurant, a la carte. Excellent food, but the prices were as high as in some of London's best restaurants, and the portions 'nouvelle cuisine'. Not good value. Twice we went to two very good restaurants nearby, recommended by the Sovereign rep. In retrospect, we should have gone out more and left the buffet to the crowds - not good value at 33 euroes per person.
The swimming pool was lovely and warm. The staff without exception excellent, the cleaning very good, but some days our bedroom was not done until after 3 p.m.
We enjoyed the putting green which we had to ourselves every day. We also played table tennis every afternoon, again with noone else in sight. Are we unusually active for our ages, or any ages?
The evening entertainment was mostly good. We love dancing so had a good go at jiving every night. Some of the specialist acts that come on at 10 o'clock were somewhat amateurish, and boring, but others (for example the four tenors) were excellent.
All in all, we were very pleased with this hotel and will probably return one day.

“Great Place To Relax”

Hotel Jardines de Nivaria

Wanted to get away from the dull weather at home so booked this at the last minute through Sovereign Holidays ( whom we've never used before and were great).
The holiday was perfect with everything we wanted on site....wonderful food, atmosphere, and service from all the staff.
The only downside is that the area round abouts is not too great but hiring a car to see the rest of the island would have been easy enough for anyone wanting to travel around. We however were more than content with the facilities on site.
A bit on the expensive side but definitely 5 star service all round.

We'll be going back again next spring.

My friend and I stayed here for the week of the 17th May and whilst the weather could have been a bit better the service at the hotel just couldn’t get any better. The staff in the hotel are brilliant and what’s more they all look like they are actually enjoying their work.

The whole hotel feels very art deco and there are some really amazing pieces of furniture and art work scattered around the public areas, the flower arrangements are a piece of art in their own right. The hotel is well maintained and although full at the time we were there it never seemed crowded.

What a great place to stay! We were upgraded on arrival to a junior suite– and whilst the view from the balcony wasn’t great the room was spacious and well laid out.

We only stayed B&B and I must say that breakfast had a fantastic selection - smoked salmon and scrambled eggs yummy! Oh and don’t forget the odd glass of Cava – what a way to wake up!

We went away for a week of relaxation and peace and quiet to chill out and recharge our batteries, the pool area is superb – lots of sun beds (although by early afternoon they were pretty full) and free pool towels. There is no loud music blaring out and not too many children so it was ideal for lazing around and reading or snoozing.

The warm salt water pool was heaven – I’ve been on too many holidays where the pool looks fantastic but is sooooo cold! I don’t think I’ve ever spent so much time in the water. Watch out for the Jacuzzi though it is quite strong.

I must say that at the time we were there the clientele were on the much older side but everyone was really friendly and it’s all part of the holiday fun trying to converse with people of different nationalities. The hotel really goes out of its way to cater for disabled visitors and its nice to see that they are so well looked after – even to the extent of a ramp into the pool.

A stroll around the gardens reveals all sorts of hidden treasures and there are some amazing plants and flowers, together with waterfalls, and little bridges. It’s like being in a botanical garden and many of the plants are labelled so you can see what they are.

There are a few shops nearby and quite a few restaurants, most people head for the ones along the sea front but we found a super place just along from the hotel called Gran Reserva – next door to the Netto supermarket. The food there is excellent and all of the staff are extremely friendly.

A previous review mentioned that if you go left along the promenade it’s like Blackpool and they’re spot on, it’s not very nice - but turn right and it’s a different world, there is an amazing up market shopping centre Del Duque as well as a really lovely promenade – well worth a walk.

For those of you who normally book a package holiday you might want to think about doing it yourself - we saved about £270 each on the brochure price advertised by a couple of well known travel companies!!!

“Excellent, well worth a visit”

Hotel Jardines de Nivaria

Just got back and can't fault this hotel in anyway.
The rooms were very spacious, clean and comfortable and our room had a lovely view of the pool and garden area.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Food was very good and the service in the restaurant was excellent.
Always lots of spare sunbeds by the pool and no need to be up early to reserve one. Drinks were a bit expensive by the pool, but that's the same everywhere nowadays.
There were mainly older people there during our stay, but it wasn't during half term or school holiday time. Entertainment was in English and German. TV also had a few English stations, including Sky Sports 1, BBC, ITV and Sky News.
Would definetely go back soon
