We stayed there for 1 week at the start of April 2007. The weather was lovely. Most of the other previous comments make sense - the location is fantastic, front line to the sea, with a great promenade that is good for early morning jogging if you're into that sort of thing. But equally as good for an evening stroll.
We could easily have stayed at the hotel for all our time in Tenerife, as the food was pretty good and the evening entertainment was OK. But we had lunches and an occasional stroll to the "village" a few hundred yards along the prom which was well worth the effort.
This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at - certainly superb value for money. Possibly top of the positives being the staff who, without exception, were professional, friendly and helpful.
There were very few negatives, yes the beds are a bit hard (which seems to be is a common failing in Spain), the beach itself just outside the hotel is a bit naff (but there is a good beach 400 metres along the prom) and thereafter I'm struggling.
I suppose another negative is that the clientelle is largely German and whilst these people generally make excellent fellow travellers, they do have this neurosis about bagging the best sun loungers. But if like me you don't mind at early morning stroll at 08.01 to make sure you beat them to it, there is not really a problem.
One last comment - whilst the Riu Palace is excellent, the Riu Arecas, just behind it, does not seem to be of the same calibre.
