We have just returned from a week at the Dream Hotel Gran Tacande. I read a lot about it on Trip Advisor and everything is exactly as others have pointed out: great hotel, very clean; we had a big room, a big beautiful bathroom, and huge and comfortable bed.

The hotel is in the best architectonic area of the island, close to everything you need.

Excellent price/quality ratio with staff always ready to help.

Internet point available (9 euros per hour- a bit on the expensive side- but keeps kids away!)

Last but not least: right out of the hotel there is a beautiful promenade by the sea!

Loved it and we will definitely go back as soon as possible!!

“Good hotel in a great location”

The Gran Tacande hotel is a delightful hotel in a great location
( right by the beach, the restaurants and the bars ).

The design of the hotel is very interesting and incorporates the volcanic rock of the area in an attractive way. The hotel feels very spacious and you are not aware of the numbers of other guests staying there ( we were told that the hotel was full ). The bedrooms have character and are reasonably spacious ( the bathroom certainly is ). We had an ocean view room and I think the upgrade was definately worth it. Outside there were plenty of sunbeds and the pools were very clean, as is the whole hotel.

There are some fanastic restuarrants near to the hotel where the food was delicious and the service well above standard. However, if I had to criticise the hotel it would be for the service which whilst it was ok the majority of the time, a few of the staff let it down on occasions.

Would I return to this hotel? Perhaps, for I certainly loved staying there. However, since there are many other 5 star hotels in this area of Tenerife I would probably try one of them next time.

“our third visit to the Gran Tacande”

Dream Hotel Gran Tacande

This was a third visit in five years to the hotel. We partly returned because we loved the room and the beautiful bathroom with the balcony which caught the sun all day.
Firstly the good bits - The pool area is really cleverly planned - plenty of chairs and smaller areas to sit so that you are not on top of other guests. Breakfast was very good - we did eat in the buffet restaurant on one evening but found it's standards had dropped since last we were there.
The staff are wonderful, definitely 5* particularly at reception where they were all so helpful.
The area of Coste Adeje is quite quiet which suited us with some nice restaurants (although expensive) nearby.
Now the not so good. As another reviewer pointed out, for a five star property, it does not seem quite "loved" enough - dead plants or poor quality artificial plants are scattered around, particularly in the corridors.
If there is one real complaint it would be that the hotel lacks atmosphere, particularly in the evening - very little entertainment and seating spread in too many areas of the hotel so that somehow in the evenings the hotel appeared almost empty AND it was fully booked.
Think management should look at these issues as it is a lovely hotel that just needs a bit of tweaking here and there!

“Beautiful Hotel!”

Absolutely fantastic hotel. Delicious food (I was on a half-board basis so ate breakfast and dinner in the hotel). Complimentary Champagne at breakfast if you're into that sort of thing:)

No problems getting a sun lounger although we did put towels on them early in the morning. Pools were great, good size and very clean.

There's a Spar mini market a 1 minute walk away-you can get the Daily Mail and other English newspapers. Cigarettes are sold in cartons of 200 and cost 19 euros-way cheaper than at home!

Airport is only 15 or 20 minutes from the hotel which is great.

There's a great little restaurant near the beach that does great lunches (walk about halfway down the promenade and you'll come to it).

The Night Entertainment wasn't great but I didn't mind-I was there for sun worshipping and relaxing!

At the time of year I went (End of January) the clientel were mainly German and there was also a few Brits.

The rooms were excellent, nice and big, airy, cleaned every day, large bathroom.

The spa is also quite good (extra), I enjoyed a great massage- a 45 minute massage costs 50 euro. I fell asleep it was so good!

Pay the extra bit of money for this hotel, it really is fantastic. And Costa Adeje doesn't compare at all to Las Americas-the latter, to put it frankly, is a dump. Costa Adeje is upmarket and beautifully landscaped.

I have not got one bad word to say about this hotel, it really is a gem. 5 star everything!

Christina the reception manager is an asset to the hotel very helpful, great english and gets the job done. I am in my late 20's and went with my husband and 3 children aged 5, 2 and 18 months. The hotel was vey child friendly offering a baby sitting service at night and a nursery for all 3 of my children except on Sundays. The swimming pools are great and again a very safe childrens pool. The rooms are to a good standard and the bathroom was exceptional. It was very clean and they thought of everything. The tennis courts had room for improvement ie: high fencing to stop the ball from going on to the street constantly......... Overall a great hotel very comfortable and relaxing. Not many families there but i would strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to bring there children on holiday and be able to relax.

the beach and promonade are lovely at first glance but it's all very man made and there is very little atmosphere. you could be anywhere it has'nt got anything that uniquely spanish about it or anything that lets you know your in tenerife. you get the feeling you could be anywhere Italy, france where ever. Likewise the restrants and cafes serve nothing unique to Tenerife and have the blandest and most overpriced food on the island. they are desperatly lacking in entertainment. I do recommend it for people who want nothing but relaxation and must say it is very upmarket unfortunatly to the point of boredom.
