“Nice Apartment, shame about the location!!!”

Club Olympus

10 Feb 2008

Justed returned from a 7day stay at Club Olympus (Garden City). We haven't visited Tenerife for 20 years but was aware that significant development had taken place. We booked this apartment because it was near the marina and not "high -rise". We expected it to be a quiet location with good facilities nearby. How wrong we were! If you are a binge drinking karaoke king/queen this is the place to visit. Our apartment was directly above one karaoke bar and the Poolside Bar (karaoke included) was directly to the side. It was impossible to listen to the TV prior to midnight when the singing stopped! On busy nights the compere would continue his monotonus prattle for up to an hour at incredible sound volume. There are nice places to stay in this part of Tenerife but this is definetly not one of them!

“Ideal Position”

Club Olympus

My wife and I have just returned from our 4th visit to this resort and like it so much that we have now bought a weeks timeshare here. It is ideally located for bars/restaurants/shops/buses and the beach it is pleasing to see the resort undertaking a re-vamp as it was probably looking a bit tired but was always up to a standard which we found acceptable.

The reception staff are very helpful and friendly and the service provided is more than adequate.

Our granddaughter (5 years old) has accompanied us on holiday the last couple of years and is looking forward to going again to Club Olympus in the summer.

Special thanks to the sales team (especially Anne) who were always pleasant and helpful without being pushy.

All in all, the resort has a lot more positves than negatives

our first visit to club olympus in November 2007. We usually stay at the Monterey up cardiac Hill with club la costa but as it was just a weeks visit to take chistmas presents to my son and his girfliendWe have passed it many times but have read a few bad reports on the internet so we were quite worried. When we arrived about dinner time the staff were very friendly and gave us the key to our room straight away. Although not quite up to club la costa gold crown standard the room was large with 2 reasonable sized bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen. It is within very easy reach of everything so it saved on taxis.Just 2 minutes to the bus stops and shops and restaurants.Maybe we are just lucky to be members of club la costa as they do have a few special rooms, but wont hesitate to go again.

We visited Club Olympus through RCI Points over Christmas.
The location is perfect; you can walk to a number of bars and restaurants in a few minutes. There is an Italian very close by (Rissini's or something like that) the food is superb; I can definately recommend the fillet steak! The beach is also only a short walk away.

The accommodation is poor compared to other RCI resorts we have stayed at. 4 adults staying in a 1 bedroom apartment. Space was not too bad and a lovely big balcony. The TV set was tiny and required a €15 deposit for the remote control and did not have the usual number of channels, i.e no sports so the boys were very disappointed! The towels were only changed once during the week, no where near enough when your on holiday and showering/hair washing constantly due to being at beach/in pool.

The pool area in tiny compared to how many apartments are there and although they state no reserving of towels on sunbeds this rule is not adhered to and noone seems to be monitoring it; 95% of the sunbeds were broken .i.e. did not sit up and if you do not get down to the pool for 9am you would be hard pushed to get one at all; they also charge €1.20 for a sunbed cushion!!

The pool bar/restaurant is again very small; service is fine and the food is ok; be warned if your apartment is close as its gets very noisy with some pretty terrible karoke which goes on way after midnight!

All in all a very disappointing resort as you normally get alot better when booking through RCI Points.

“Dont rent apartment 208 from Deanna Dewey”

Nice complex in a good location but apartment 208 which we rented from Deanna Dewey was dirty and in desperate need of reburbishment. Both the front door and patio doors posed a security risk, it looked like they has been broken into and badly repaired.
After booking our holiday I read a bad review about her apartments and e-mailed her seeking confirmation the apartment would be clean on our arrival - despite her assurance it wasn't.. the place was filthy, the kitchen was covered in grease and there was even crumbs left on the work surface. The wardrobe doors didn't slide properly, and we had to wipe them out before we could unpack, the headboards were hanging off the wall, one sofa bed was broken and wouldn't open the other so old and worn I could feel the wooden slats.
Three of us were staying in the apartment but on arrival only two beds had been made up, the safety deposit box wasn't working or the water heater so we had to contact Janet (easier said than done!) Sheets with holes in them were delivered , the water heater was sorted but only provided enough hot water for two showers.
Whilst we knew there wasn't a maid service we did expect the apartment to be clean on our arrival and to be provided with cleaning materials in order to keep it that way during our stay but weren't. We were there for 11 nights and didn't get clean sheets during our stay.
Overall the apartment needs a visit from Kim & Aggie (how clean is your house) and a total revamp.

Management Response

I am concerned to see this negative review posted.

I have to question whether this person actually stayed in the apartment. On checking my records for the past 3 months I have only received positive feedback.

I visited the property myself in December and painted the apartment throughout (which I do at least once a year) and everything was fine.

It is not in my interest to rent out a dirty and unsuitable apartment and if anything should go wrong Janet is on hand to sort things out.

I have lots of satisfied guests - plus the many repeat bookings I receive would indicate people are happy with the standard of the apartments.
