We visted Ickworth Hotel during the Easter weekend and despite the cold and wet weather we had a really good stay. The creche facilites are really good and our little two year old girl even looked forward to going there for a couple of hours, which was great for my hubby and I to sit in the lounge , read the newspaper and enjoy a coffee in peace. This hotel is very very child friendly and in fact, you would feel out of place if you didnt have any. You were always able to relax at meal times no matter how messy your child is! The staff all around are very helpful and efficient. We were very impressed with the service we received.
Buffet breakfast is adequate although you can order from the menu (at no extra charge) which is very good.
The facilites for kids are amazing and everything looks safe and there is so much to do. The pool is good however the change area is not good at all. Very small and not really enough room to get dressed!
Our room (Belle Isle) was a standard one and a little small but the massive bathroom made up for it! They also supply you with a dvd player and a baby monitor service which we used for the first time and as this is a small hotel, we actually felt quite safe doing it, as did most of the couples staying over. Was nice to be dining just adults at night in the adult only dining rooms and the food was out of this world! we were very impressed with the quality of food and wine, only thing is that you are stuck to the 3 courses for dinner which after 3 nights on the trot can get to be to much. we ended up eating in the lounge on the final night and just ordered from the al al carte menu, which was relaxed and very enjoyable. It would be better if there was the choice to order from the Conservatory menu in Fredericks (the adult only restaurant) to give more variety as we found the Fredericks menu a bit limiting by the third night of eating from it.
We will definaltey go back to this hotel especially when the weather is better to take advantage of the surroundings.
