A family of four, we spent ten nights at Knights Hill while visiting friends and relatives in Norfolk. When we tried to book on the Best Western web site there was some difficulty getting the booking through, so we contacted the hotel directly and the staff were very helpful. The problem was that they were fully booked for two of our nights, so we reserved the nights we could and were put on the waitlist for the others. As it worked out, we stayed there the whole trip, and after some discussion with the staff, our room was moved to a more family friendly sized room after the fourth night which included a little more space and a small kitchenette.

Knights Hill is listed as a three star hotel, but I'm afraid that it wouldn't make that by US standards. The rooms and fittings are clean and comfortable, but a bit dated and could use some refurbishing. This is especially true with regard to the bathrooms where we did have some difficulty with the regulation of our shower temperature and you sometimes had to crank the flush handle a couple of times to get a full flow in the toilet.

The restaurant was very nice, we had breakfast there every day (it was included in the price). Breakfast included buffet with a pretty complete list of fried offerings along with fruit, pastry, cereal and an assortment of juices. In addition, you can get fish and poached eggs cooked to order. Note to night owls; the porter serves drinks from the bar in the lounge until 2AM if you wish. The staff were very good about getting warm milk for the children at bedtime.

Hotel guests have access to the spa onsite which includes a pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna and workout loft. The kids had a great time in the pool.

Not mentioned in any of the write-ups is the availability of free high-speed internet. This was very useful for booking excursions and getting directions online. There is no printer available, so we had to have the help of the desk staff when we needed to print our airline boarding passes. TV in the UK is a bit limited by US standards, so it was also nice to have the laptop so the kids could watch a film in the evening.

I cannot say enough about the staff. Virtually without exception, everyone was as nice and helpful as could be.

We were originally booked in at another place in Kings Lynn, but after a quick look-see we cancelled. That left us no where to stay. We just happened to drive by Knight's Hill and stop to inquire about availability. They said we could have one night, but the next night they were booked. We agreed and asked to be on a waiting list for night two. Although it was quite a walk to our room, it was worth it! It was a lot more room than we needed, but was very clean and tidy. The bed was just like home, we actually had a good nights sleep! We were very tired and very leary of eating at the on-sight restaurant, mainly from previous bad experiences, but we were too tired to venture out. At first, we were a bit disappointed when we entered the dining area. It was only about 5pm, but we hadn't eaten all day. No one was around except a little gal on the phone by the counter. She had to have seen us standing there for several minutes but continued to chat (about a reservation the next day..) without even a word to us. We stood for a few more minutes, then walked out to the reception area and asked if we were to seat ourselves or what. We were then told dinner isn't served there until 7pm. The other gal could have told us that. Anyway, we walked over to the Farmer's Arms and had a delightful meal! The best so far since our arrival here in the UK. Then the next best thing was that the next morning we were told we could stay the next night and keep our same room!! Couldn't have been more pleased!! Thanks for a wonderful stay! Great staff (in general with one exception)!

Just got back from a weekend break at the Knights HIll Hotel. We booked it through best western and got a good rate of £60 a room per night, including breakfast.
We were given a room in the annex situated between the pub and the pool and adjacent to the function area. The room was perfectly fine, clean spacious and comfy, but the bathroom was dated and the shower useless - almost impossible to get and keep the right temperature, and with no power at all!
Friday night we slept fine as fortunately there was no function on, however on the Saturday there was a wedding and the noise from the disco reverberated around our room until gone 1.00am, making sleep impossible. When I complained the next morning I was told that was why I got such a good rate and that I should have been informed of the possibility of noise when I booked - which I wasn't.
Friday night we went into Kings Lynn to eat and stumbled across a real find "Maggie's" in Saturday Market Place. Lovely surroundings, food and service and fairly reasonable.
Saturday night we opted to eat at the hotel as we had done an 8 mile walk and were feeling quite tired. We chose the Farmers Arms pub and were seated in the conservatory. This was completely without any atmosphere and freezing cold, whereas the main part of the pub restaurant was warm and cosy. The food was ok - typical pub fayre and the service good.
The inclusive breakfasts were fairly good, although the selection for the continental breakfast was a little limited.
We enjoyed being able to swim and use the jacuzzi, especially after a long walk.
The hotel is well located for touring the area and I would stay again but certainly not in any of the rooms near to the function area.

“Dated, expensive and disappointing”

I stayed here for business in June 07. My booking was not on their system, and they insisted I fired up my laptop to show them my e-mail booking confirmation as proof, before they would believe me. They then put me in a tiny, poky, stuffy smoking room. I complained that it was a smoking room, and after some procrastination I was moved to one of the 'Courtyard Apartments' Sounds good? They're not. The light bulb in the bathroom didn't work, the bath taps didn't work, the lamp on the desk was dropping to bits, the TV reception was terrible.
The bathroom itself is straight from 1973 - brown tiles, brown toilet, and brown floor. There is mould on the tiles, and there are old, rotten window frames with single pane glass that allows every tiny noise in to the room.
In summary, it is a prime example of a hotel that is in need of a refurbishment and money spending on the rooms, but unfortunately people still seem to stay there, so they will continue to charge high prices for substandard accomodation. The Imagine Spa is ok, but the gym is small and in the loft, while the pool is too small really. A two star hotel at best I am afraid.

We wanted to visit the annual Flower Parade in Spalding, Lincolnshire at short notice. The hotels in and around Spalding were fully booked and this hotel was about 25 miles away and had a 4-nights-for-3 deal.
The room was very comfortable. The meals in the a-la-carte restaurant were about £25 which was more than we wanted to pay but at the entrance the pub/restaurant was reasonably good value at £7-15 and serving a very very tasty cider called Aspel's).
The health suite was small but was included in the price.
I like to take my laptop pc on holiday and the room had cabled broadband.
The flower parade was a lovely experience and the shopping centre at Springfields has to be one of the best I've visited - car park and shops on one level with a lovely gardens at the back. And to complete the day an excellent Chinese restaurant (I think the Bejing Palace) on the way back to Kings Lynn.
