“Big welcome bar”

Best Western Knights Hill Hotel

Stayed here for one night for a £68 B+B Goverment rate, having stayed here previously. It is a large comfortable BW hotel with good quality rooms. However, this time we were accommodated in the courtyard- which looks fairly grim from the outside, although the rooms are just as good as in the main block. I was concerned about being placed behind the bar, but had no worries about noise, was it that I stayed in until closing time? The breakfast service is improved from my last stay, as it is a help yourself buffet with a good array of hot and cold items. The plastic key I was given for my room didn't work- so I had to return to reception to get another key issued. Other gripes were a fairly poor TV reception ( also experienced by a work colleague) a very fiddly shower mechanism mounted above the bath taps and immediately behind the pillows a vast selection of electrical sockets - which either is dangerous or uncomfortable if you move around in bed!
As we eat out in KL I can't comment on the food and too much time in the bar ( a good hotel bar - with a large selection of ales) meant I didn't try the pool/gym!
Overall a good comfortable hotel with a good range of facilities, easy to get to set in a quiet location.

This is a really nice hotel with kind, pleasant and happy staff who are pleased to make sure guests have a good stay. There are a range of rooms at different prices and after looking around, all we found were pleasant and good value. Some are excellent. The hotel is situated outside Kings Lynn and easy to find on the junction of two major roads....but rooms are set back from the road and quiet. Breakfast was very good and the restaurant is a lovely place to start the day...bright, well furnished and overlooking the garden. Our room was £90 a night and overlooked an inner courtyard. Good value for money for the quality provided, well ahead of another hotel at the same price in Kings Lynn from which we moved. A really nice stay.

    • Liked — really pleasant room and lovely breakfast and restaurant and friendly helpful staff
    • Disliked — parking got very full in the evening (Saturday night) but we still found space
    • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — there is a good pool and fitness centre so take your togs

“Very impressed with the evening meal”

We stayed on a Sunday night, as they had a special offer to include the evening meal. Apparently Sunday`s tend to be quiet - which suited us perfectly.

The evening meal was absolutely delicious, the best we have had for a long time. We had to wait a while between courses, but it was well worth it. Additionally, all the staff were very pleasant - well done!

The swimming pool was adequate, although I can image it could get rather crowded during busy times. We didn`t use the gym, so can`t comment on gym facilities.

The hotel is in a lovely setting, and our standard double room was pleasantly decorated, and appeared to have recently had a new carpet fitted. Our only small complaint about the room would be the bathroom. The grouting and sealant around the bath could do with tidying up, and the discoloured grouting needs replacing. Also the shower was a bit akward to use. It is a shame that these small issues have not been attended to.

Overall though, the whole setting was very pleasant, and we had a lovely one night stay, and would most certainly stay there again.

“Huge Disapppointment”

Best Western Knights Hill Hotel

We booked a two day break as a present to our daughters so specifically booked a hotel with an indoor swimming pool. When we asked on check-in where the pool was, we were told "It's out of action". We were given two rooms in the courtyard. My daughters' room stank of cigarette smoke - the smell was so bad that it could be smelt from outside as soon as the door was opened. The room my husband and I shared stank of drains and sewerage. When I went to reception and asked for some air freshner I was told "it's locked away". The service at breakfast was extremely poor. As soon as we entered the dining room - before we were even allowed to sit down - my husband had to sign for the breakfasts. We were then left sitting at the table while staff stood around chatting. Fortunately my daughter spotted the hot food in an adjacent part of the dining room as no-one told us it was there. My husband had to get up and ask a member of staff for coffee and toast. I would never visit this hotel again.

I come to King's Lynn for work at least once or twice a year and I always stay at the Knight's Hill. My previous stay was in March 2006 (for 1 1/2 weeks) and before that July 2005 (for 3 weeks). I stay in the new part on the second floor and I have never been disapointed. The rooms are large, comfortable and clean. The workout facility is wonderful and open late. The food in the restaurants leaves a little to be desired but room service is fast, accurate and efficient. I find the staff to be friendly and extremely helpful. I will stay here everytime I come to KIngs Lynn.
