We were lucky to get the last room here for a one night stay with our
6 year old son at October half term. The lady on the desk told us that they are booked solid for much of the year, and having stayed there, I am not surprised.
A massive amount has been spent on refurbishing what was a very ordinary pub with rooms. It is now a really nice boutique hotel, our rooms was amazingly furnished in black and white with striking red cushions on the bed. The whole place displays bold modern designs that work well.
The room was not huge especially with the Z bed for our son, but it was OK, very quiet and well equipped. I liked the thermos of fresh milk in the room and fresh flowers. The room also has an air-conditioning unit which would be useful in summer as the rooms seem very warm and dry (perhaps all the new furnishings and insulation?).
The bathroom was gleaming, with lovely soft bathrobes and locally made toiletries.
We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant, the starters (especially the polenta) were superb. Mains too were good, though both the
lamb and duck were a little too rare. Our son's house special miniburger was mega. Home made ice-cream and sorbet superb (pistachio and biscotti mmmmmm).
Breakfast was very civilised, nice cooked items, good cold buffet.
At £125 for a double, and given that accommodation in Norfolk is not cheap, I thought this wasn't too bad. It's not ideal situated, but It's only 30 minutes from the North Norfolk Coast, if that. Traffic noise was not intrusive, it's not on an A road or anything. There is a really nice deli opposite if you want a picnic lunch.
We'll certainly be back, if we can ever get in at short notice!

This hotel is excellent and I very much enjoyed my stay here recently on business. I encountered extremely good service from all the staff and the room was perfect. The single rate (£75 per night) I would say was extremely good value although I personally feel £150 for two people in a double is perhaps a little steep.
We turned up on spec & took the last remaining double room which was excellent and furnished with tea, coffee & port. The only fault was the lack of lighting in the bathroom to shave and make-up by. Dinner and breakfast were both very good with high quality fresh ingredients. Friendly staff and, overall, highly recommended.

We have just arrived back from a weekend at this hotel.
The hotel was tastefully decorated, and very welcoming.
The service and staff were excellent, especially Emily & Max, who were very polite and helpful.
The food was superb, and again service in the restaurant was excellent.
All in all, a great hotel, and we will be visiting again shortly.
