The title says it all. The food is beautifully cooked and presented. The menu is interesting and short enough to convince that it is all fresh. The wine list offers reasonable value, with some excellent drinkable wines at the cheaper end.
The ambience is relaxed, and Paul took the time to meet all the diners (at least all those still there) at the end of the evening.
The service was, however, haphazard. The table next to us seemed to be served by one individual, who was excellent. He was also on hand to help when we had queries. He was, however, one of several who worked our table, thereby giving no feeling of personal service. Our initial waitress didn't explain the specials, nor did she deal with our wine correctly (red wine-newly opened-poured afull glass to taste- didn't wait for a response- didn't pour any more wine at any time either for me or for my wife!!).
Would we return? Absolutely. The food works. Paul Ainsworth is a fab chef, but if he wants a Michelin Star (which I believe he does), he needs to look at both staffing levels and quality of staff.
