We had a lovely overnight stay at the Belfry en route back from Cornwall to London. We were offered a choice of rooms and chose Coleridge which was very spacious. Lots of extra touches including bathrobes, cloth for shoe cleaning, sewing kit, hot water bottle etc which were most appreciated. We had dinner in the hotel and then went across the road to the pub, a lovely country pub with friendly locals, apparently good food and a skittle alley upstairs! When I think that the cost of a night at the Belfry is only £20 more than taking pot luck on a B&B I am amazed that there have been any negative comments at all. The rooms were clean, well looked after with good quality bed linen and our breakfast was delicious. Yes, the bells chime but that is a unique part of being in the country, and yes, we could hear the road, but not to a disturbing level. On Katies recommendation we went to Beer the next day (we had also been recommended this by the locals at the pub but we were concerned they were pulling our leg!) a gorgeous English coastal village, less than 30 minutes away...
