“One of the best”

Brackenborough Hotel

1 Mar 2008

Just returned from a surprise birthday treat from my wife. I had no idea where we were going and was pleasantly impressed when we parked up at the rear of the hotel. I've stayed in many hotels world wide and for customer service I don't think I've stayed in any better. The room was excellent, very clean, spa bath, flat screen TV and well furnished. The bed was extremely comfortable. I couldn't get the bath working but a call down to the desk produced one of the reception staff within a minute to show me how to switch it on.

We had the dinner B+B option. Normally you get a restricted choice from the main menu but you could pick anything at all at the Brackenborough which was most gratifying! The food was simply excellent. The chef Steve certainly can cook. I must single out Geoff (the nearest you can get to pronouncing his name as he is Iranian!) the maitre d who is everything a maitre d should be and more. Very funny man, very helpful, always there in the background. A guy who obviously loves his job.

We will certainly return to this hotel, we just need an excuse!

Myself and my husband have just had a short stay at the Brackenborough arms. I booked this as a suprise for my husbands birthday. We have room 105 which was an executive room with jacuzzi. We were very pleasantly suprised as the hotel has recently undergone a refurbishment so it was a very different hotel from the last time I went. The welcome was very warm and pleasant. All staff that passed us spoke and seemed very happy. The room was lovely. No expense has been spared and the attention to detail is fantastic. We had a jacuzzi with mood lighting around it and a 20in plasma tv built into the wall. Bath fitted both of us comfortably, and were not slight..lol! We went down for a drink before we got ready for our evening meal and was treated to a little tour by Geoff, such a nice guy. He look us to the function room which was seperated from the rest of the dining room by black padded leather walls, very nice. The function room has its own little cave with twinkling lights on the ceiling and there own posh and becks style throwns....genius, such a fab touch, and very tastefully done too. The evening meals was to die for. I would say it was one of the best meals I've had. And the portion sizes are perfect. The bed was a dream, room was a bit warm for me though, I like a cold bedroom, but thats my only complaint and its a personal thing anyway. Breakfast was fresh and of very high standard with a very varied menu to choose from. I regret not having the smoked haddock! All in all we had a fantastic stay and we have booked to take 13 of our family there on Mothering Sunday we loved it that much.

“Warm room, frosty welcome”

We stayed here for one night whilst travelling on business. The check in was smooth, but the woman behind the desk was rather aloof, and quite frosty. She didn't seem too bothered about anything; I'm quite sure that if we'd just walked right back out again, it wouldn't have bothered her too much.

The other staff in the hotel are very nice though, especially the ones that served us breakfast. On the subject of breakfast, the food on offer is quite good, though not the best we've had. It's pretty much run-of -the-mill cooked or continental, with access to fruit juices, cereal etc, although by a certain time of the morning, they were starting to run out of some things such as orange juice.

The room itself, however, was great. We had an exclusive room, with jacuzzi bath. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, and the pillows were divine - it was truly one of the best nights sleep I've ever had whilst in a hotel! The finish in the room was to a really high standard; it was modern but also very comfortable, and was comfortably warm too - not too hot and not too cold! The room we had was to the front of the building (the hotel is situated on a main road) and we weren't disturbed by any noise from either traffic or other guests.

I'd recommend a stay at the Brackenborough. Once you get past the frosty welcome at the front desk, you'll find the hotel to be a comfortable and pleasant place to stay.

“A good find”

Brackenborough Hotel

I stayed here recently on business and was pleasantly surprised to find a modern, clean hotel.
Staff were friendly, but my stay coincided with some building work going on downstairs, so there was some noise late afternoon.
Room was ok but beginning to look a bit tired - shower gel and soap dispensers in the bathroom were empty.
TV remote was temperamental.
Bed was comfortable with large soft pillows and duvet.
Breakfast was ok, self service cereal etc and cooked to order - but the service was a little begrudging - coffee poured out on request - I only got two cups and that was it!

“Amazing”

Brackenborough Hotel

5 Feb 2008

I have stayed at the Brackenborough twice in the last month and I cannot praise this hotel highly enough. It puts a lot of 5* hotels to shame. The staff are all exceptional and seem to take pride in what they do. The chef is amazing and the rooms are of the highest standard. This hotel is real value for money. I get to stay at a lot of hotels and this is one I cant wait to get back to.
