We visited for Mother's day. When I rang to book the table originally I was made to feel like an inconvenience. I then rang a second time to increase the table booking by one person and was made to feel even more like a troublesome customer. I gave them the benefit of the doubt as we struggled to get into other local restaurants on this busy day (others that we know and LOVE!) We arrived and weren't even greeted with a smile - stood around in the foyer and eventually were told that "Oh yes, you're the ones where we had to squeeze your high chair onto a table for aren't you" - Well, if I'd have known we were going be such a burden I'd have taken our custom elsewhere!
The waiting on staff need to be reminded to smile! In this business that will go a long way and really doesn't take much! But if they are being trained by the Manageress then it really is no wonder that they don't.
All that is left to say is that it's a good thing the food was such excellent quality. It really was fantastic but let down so much by the lack of a welcome or a smile.
Would highly recommend the Roast Beef if you can bear to be treated like a nuisance! love other local restaurants that serve more reasonably priced food with a warmer welcome but would love to visit again again if the service could be improved.
