First Visit to this B&B. The accomodation run by Linda and Keith Harrison cannot be faulted. Having stayed many times at their previous establishment - Ashfield House Hotel, Grassington, N. Yorks - it was interesting to see if their previous high standard was maintained. Maintained Yes - Exceeded Yes.
My partner and I could not find a single fault. The quality of everthing in the establishment was first class. Keith still cooks a first class breakfast. The hospitality from both Linda and Keith was outstanding.
This was the first of many visits we shall be making in the near future.
Good luck to Linda and keith in this venture.

Having read the excellent reviews I booked a one night stay for
myself and a colleague, we were delighted with the rooms and the attention to small detalis that adds comfort to your stay.

Our rooms were very tastefully decorated and could not fault in anyway.

Breakfast was a treat, fresh fruit, cereals, fruit juices and the menu had an excellent cooked selection from poached eggs to Scottish Salmon, dining room was immaculate too.

Douglas House can put a lot of Hotel chains to shame, for the cost of £47.50 including Breakfast it is a real winner.

We booked all the rooms and each one was very tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. Lovely hosts and nice breakfast. Top marks - the way all B&Bs should be. A+++
There's not a huge choice of places to eat in Castle Douglas, but the italian restaurant, Carlo's offers really tasty food and nice wines.

From first walking in the door, with a very friendly welcome from Linda I knew we were in the right place. The information given about the small town and surrounding area was so very helpfull as we had not been to this area before. Our room was very well appointed and exceptionally clean. The choice at breakfast time was wonderful, so good to have your full english (sorry scottish!!) cooked to order. We will very definatly return to Douglas House when ever in this area, and reccomend to all our friends.

We took a chance on this B&B, and found a winner!

There were no recent reviews for this B&B, but the website looked great.

Castle Douglas was the last overnight stop on our 7-day road trip around Scotland.

We arrived at the B&B around 6:30pm, and were immediately welcomed in by Linda, the lady of the house. She even helped us with our bags up to our 2nd floor room.

My wife was amazed at the collection of orchids and the fragrant lillies dotting the staircase and 2nd floor hallway which was full of natural light.

Our amazement continued with the tastefully modern appointments in our room - a large 2-person glass shower stall, heated towel rack, wall-mounted LCD TV, a king-size bed, and ample room for our luggage.

We were directed about 3 blocks down the street for dinner at a restaurant/pub located in an inn. The food was tasty, and as has been our Scottish experience, the portions were generous.

The B&B is located on a quiet street a few blocks from the main street, so traffic noise is not an issue after dark.

After a decent sleep (although the mattress was a little soft for my liking), we had a breakfast that was AMAZING! Champagne, juices, cereals, FRESH grapefruit (I had 2!), and cooked to order eggs, black pudding, fried toast, etc.

It turns out that the owners only bought the B&B in the spring of 2007; they used to run a hotel (in Yorkshire?), but decided to semi-retire.

The only addition I would make to the amenities would be internet access for guests.

She was nice enough to do some laundry for us for a small charge.

All in all, this was a great place & is highly recommended.

note: To put this review in context, we usually stay at 3-star+ hotels. On this road trip, we have stayed at a combination of B&Bs, a hostel, and a mix of hotels.
