My wife and I stay at the hotel on 12/26/06 for two nights only. We didn't make reservations, as we knew it was low season. The airport is approximately 5-10 minutes away, and it cost about 3 soles with a taxi. Very smal airport by the way! and if anyone decides to flight to Ayacucho during rainy season, you are running into a risk that your flight might be cancelled, as it happened to our return flight.
In any case, the hotel is supposed to be the best in town. only a block away from the main square and walking distance to many travel agencies and tour agencies. We paid $45.00 per night, which I thought was a bit steep for the hotel. In any case, the room is very simple and it has the very basic amenities ie. tv, cable, phone, etc. The only negative side was that there was not HOT water in the shower.....which wasn't that bad, but still.
The american breakfast is included in your hotel rate. You get a choice of juice, coffee or tea, breads, scrambled or fry eggs.
I didn't have any problems at the hotel, with the only exception that there was no hot water to take a shower. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. Since it was low season, we ended up taking private tours to Quinua and Vilcazhuaman.
If anyone decides to take the bus to Ayacucho, the best bus company is Cruz del Sur, and it's approximately 55 soles. It takes approximately 10-12 hours from Lima. The road is pretty good from Lima to Ayacucho, but once you get to the high altitude just be aware that the roads start getting really curvy.
