We stayed at the Hotel Esplendido for one night at the end of a week on the island. It met & exceeded our expectations and we left with regret, already planning our next return visit!

The hotel is right on the seafront with views to die for across the harbour, which really couldn't be better. The decor is boutique and stylish and the restaurant and bar both look out onto the harbour, which is fanasttic 24-hours a day!

Although the hotel doesn't have a car park there is free parking 200m away. The hotel also has a tram stop right outside the front door which runs between the port and the inland town of Soller.

We were lucky as we were offered an upgrade to a sea view upon checking in (thank you Hotel Esplendido!) and this pretty much made our stay complete. Our room was of standard size but with a truly gorgeous bed, which you just sank in to go to sleep, and also a fabulous bathroom with a great power shower. The view over the harbour was great and the air-con was automatic, so it went off went the windows were open and automatically switched on when they were closed. The TV picked up some English news channels and the minibar was reasonably priced for where we were.

The rest of the hotel was beautiful. The pool areas are on the terraces behind the hotel, where there is also an outside bar. We had a drink on a terrace all to ourselves in the evening sunshine looking out over the harbour to the Mediterranean behind - pretty close to perfection!

We were able to book an outside table for dinner, which topped off our stay. The food was excellent, with a good bottle of Majorcan wine. Breakfast the next day - served to a reasonable 11am - saw a wide choice of hot & cold dishes, with a choice to have a continental breakfast in a seperate breakfast room if you wanted to be somewhere without children.

The staff were highly professional and friendly and we both felt that we could have stayed at the Esplendido for several days or a week quite happily. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Port De Soller.

Stayed for a long weekend in May 08. Room not huge, but great amenities, nice bed and bathroom. If I went back I would definitely pay extra for an ocean view. Had a great bath and massage treatment at the spa as well. Port de Soller is a cute little town, it was very relaxing. They will loan DVDs, had an extensive collection of books and magazines to browse in several languages, great breakfast. They actually have 2 breakfast rooms, one which is kid-free. I also liked that breakfast was served till 11AM. Rates seemed quite reasonable for what you get. Staff was mostly very friendly.

“Very, very good hotel - babies galore”

Rooms - we had 224 as it was the only room available when we booked - a Standard Sea View Terrace - and the room wasn't pretty standard sized, ie, small. TV is teeeeeenyweeeeeny but there is a DVD player and fantastic DVD library. Toiletries are Ren and lovely. Bed was very big and comfy.
Staff - friendly without being warm. Not super-efficient in a few things that would make it five star - such as knowing how to send a fax, and then not telling us that they hadnt sent it till we enquired an hour later.
Food - really, really fantastic. The bar and restaurant are very nice indeed and fun to hang out in.
Pool - delightful, quiet, with views above the hotel roof to the sea.
Breakfast spread - as other reviewers said, it's awesome! Huge choice encompassing bacon/eggs, loads of breads, a massive selection of hams and cheeses, pastries, about 12 different cereals and 10 add-your-own extras (like sunflower seeds and raisins), yoghurts, fruit and very very good coffee.
The view - is the reason we stayed, and the reason we'd stay again. No other hotel in Soller would have the same incredible view straight out between the cliffs. It's absolutely gorgeous!
Lift - broke down constantly and apparently always does. so if you are in a wheelchair or hate climbing five flights of stairs to get to the pool, be aware!

The kids thing other reviewers mentioned - seriously, this place must be featured in some parenting magazine as there was about 15 babies under two, and quite a few under fives. Having said that, we didnt notice any crying or noise from them at all really. The guests as a whole were early/mid 30s, mildly media-esque types, with a mix of swedes, brits and spanish.

Port de Soller itself is a bit touristy and tacky, shame as the view is amazing. Other places we ate... okay, the restaurant El Olivo at The Residencia in Deia is absolutely breathtakingly perfect in every way, Es Faro on the lighthouse clilff has pretty good food and spectacular views back into the harbour and out to sea. We also went to Palma and spent a day and evening at Puro Beach Club, which is not as cool as it - and its see-through-trousered-with-g-strings-waitstaff - thinks it is (there was a man selling Thai Buddha posters and other that on a street-hawker style table all day - what the?) but is still kind of fun.

“Beautiful and chic but too many kids”

Stayed here by accident due to the common overbooking con at the Aimia.
It was delightful as a whole and just as described below. It was chic and gorgeous.
My only gripe was that it sometimes felt like a giant creche -kids and prams everywhere even late at night in the bars and round the pools it got so noisy. In fairness they had an adult only pool but didnt seem to enforce it - although I did!
It was great though, but the kids and babies everywhere took away from the romantic break we wanted. Hotel could do more to recognise the child free and separate our rooms better.

We stayed in the Esplendido for 10 nights at the beginning of June. We were looking for the ultimate relaxing holiday and that is exactly what we got. We were absolutely delighted with our choice. The hotel is really cool and chic. It's immaculately clean and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We had to approach them for all sorts of things and every time they were attentive and cheerful! The food was great and we ate there nearly everyday for lunch. The breakfasts were really good and fresh, there was two breakfast rooms, one of which was for adults only. The tram stopped right outside the door and was a really lovely way to travel. The traffic was practically nil. The beach across the road from the hotel was fine, a bit of gravel but the hotel had a staff member working down on the beach to get drinks from the bar if needed!! The pools were beautiful, set in the gardens that snaked up the side the the mountain. The infinity pool again is adults only but children did find there way up. We did not use the spa but it has a comprehensive list of treatments. Its a super hotel for couples and families alike. It really caters for nearly everything. The little touches like the vinyl room, library, extensive DVD library, chill out places around the hotel really make it a special experience. It was our first time in Majorca and we will definitely go back to the Esplendido and we would recommend it to anyone!
