“Excellent standards and service”

The Beverly Hills provides discreet, professional levels of service that are now so rarely seen in American hotels. The rooms are high quality and bathrooms excellent. Our restaurant experiences were first class.
Set in attractive grounds, the location is superb for exploring the area or chilling out. Do not come here to watch celebrities-come here to be treated like one

OK, there are probably some more luxurious or modern hotels in Beverly Hills, but I'm sick of cookie cutter Ritz-Carlton's and the like that could be the same anywhere in the world. The BHH is what it is: sort of kitschy, slightly outdated (think square TVs), but this authenticity is what makes it great.

My wife, six-year-old, and I stayed in a deluxe balcony room in the main building. The room was huge and the balcony almost as large as the room itself (about 40% larger than the room I saw when I was checking out rooms on a different trip). It's not quite a five star room in terms of luxury or amenities, but the room had abundant charm and a great vibe.

The service at BHH was uniformly outstanding. Every staff member, from front desk to poolside to valet, was gracious and friendly. A few minor housekeeping issues were dealt with immediately.

We loved the fountain coffee shop. Great French toast, omelettes, and salads at lunch. Just maybe the best coffee shop in America.

The pool is awesome if it's not too cold. No attitude there at all. Every guest is treated like a celebrity. Speaking of celebrities, we saw our fair share in the lobby (it was Oscar week). Security does a great job of keeping the scene calm; hotel guests are not discouraged from sitting in the lobby with their children waiting for Hannah Montana to show up (she didn't).

Here is my only complaint: the spa is not up to snuff. First of all, the men's locker room is tiny and not particularly well kept. Steam room is small and there is no space to relax. I wouldn't have minded, but I had a really poor massage - after being assured by the spa staff that my therapist was requested a lot. (Turned out she couldn't have been because she had only worked there for a few months.) Truly amateurish on every level.

Overall, however, we loved BHH. It's a magical place for kids, the service is outstanding, you feel like you are actually someplace interesting and historical. Oh, and B.D. hangs out there. What more could you ask for?

To all the recent reviewers: did we stay at the same hotel?! I can hardly believe it.

I never book a hotel without Trip Advisor anymore. After reading the reviews posted for the Beverly Hills Hotel here, I was sure that I could not go wrong with booking it for a romantic night on Valentine's Day. Let me tell you - that's one Valentine’s Day I will not soon forget. And not in a good sense.

We booked a bungalow for $600+ a night. I was taken to the furthest bungalow on the property - no sweat, I told myself, we'll have more privacy this way.

It took me a couple minutes to realize that there was some constant noise coming from the outside. I looked out, and saw some kind of a loud fan in the upper corner of the building, which was, as I gathered, part of the room's air-conditioning system. It makes you feel like you are sleeping in a car with your motor running. And THEN I took a look around the room. Talk about DATED! The upper edges of the wallpaper - or, to be exact, wall draping (as it was some kind of silk covering) - was black. Not sure if it was mold or dust, or both! All around the room. I couldn't stand looking at it, it was so disgusting. The carpet also saw better days. And once you use the toilet, it keeps running for what seemed like forever.

I called and asked if I could be switched to another room. They suggested a room "in the main building". Surely, if I wanted to be in a building - as opposed to a bungalow, I would have booked the Peninsula or the Four Seasons (which I am now very sorry I did not). They then offered a bungalow suite - for a whopping $1400 a night. I was so desperate to save what was left of the night, I agreed. But when I asked how long it would take to do the switch, they said "up to an hour".

So, we waited. It was getting close to 9 pm, and my husband, who arrived soon after me, was hungry. My plan to have a nice quiet meal via room service was on hold - we still did not know what room we'd end up in! The Polo Lounge, the only restaurant on the property, was booked solid. Twenty minutes passed, and with no news on the room switch, we just left the hotel. That's right - turned in the keys, and hurried home, stopping by to get some champagne and strawberries along the way.

Do you think anybody even tried to stop us? No way! No apologies, not even an attempt to rectify the situation - nothing! If you don't count the valet's effort to keep my husband's car - just because his name was not on the reservation! That's right - they take the car and your name, park it, but when you want to take it back - and your name is not on any of the rooms' reservations - they refuse to give it back to you! My husband, of course, would not stand for such nonsense, but I wonder how many cars the valet got to keep that way?! :)

Anyway, if you are used to true luxury, stay away from this dump. At all cost.

Truly perfection. You will not be dissapointed. I have stayed at the best 5 star hotels over the world and nothing beats this. Every staff member makes you feel welcome and very important. Rooms are beautiful, as well as property. We loved the Fountain Coffee Room for Breakfast too!
