“Ahh! The Holiday Inn”

Holiday Inn Buena Park Hotel

30 Jul 2008

Just returned home after staying at the Holiday Inn. If you want to stay in the buzz of everything, then maybe this hotel is not in the best of locations. the more popular area is 'Harbour Blvd' down by Disney. Yes the hotel is near to Knotts Berry Farm but we found there was not a great choice for eating out.
I have to say there is nothing bad i can say about the Holiday Inn.
We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived, Front desk staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful,
Hello to Thomas Lombard you were Great.
Our rooms were clean and comfortable. The only down side is there are no in-room safes, only safety deposit boxes at the front desk. Also if you are expecting a fridge then i am afraid you have to rent them!!!
Anyway don't suppose you can have everything, but anyway thanks Holiday Inn for a great stay !!!!

Stayed for 4 nights in a double room. The room overall was very clean and tidy with plenty of facilities. Bathroom was clean which was great. The best thing was that every room had free wifi for laptops and it was very quiet considering it was located close to the freeway. The hotel pool was clean and heated however one of the spa pools was not working which was a bit of a shame.
The hotel lobby is well presented and staff were very friendly and polite. There was also free use of the internet on the lobby computer which was really excellent. Overall had a great stay here and would recommend using the free shutlle to local attractions such as disneyland. The bus driver was great and everything worked out fine. Recommended.

“Not a bad place to stay, but "kids eat free" not worth it at restaurant.”

Holiday Inn Buena Park Hotel

14 Jul 2008

This is a nice, clean place to stay and staff is very friendly with frequent shuttles to Disneyland and a great pool open until 11 we had a fun time here with our boys, ages 8 & 9 but beware of a few things.
First, our room overlooked the pool, kind of...we had a huge tree obstructing our view but we got ALL the pool noise. I think there must have been a dozen kids there Friday night just shrieking! I called the front desk and they did eventually quiet down, but that was not fun. We ate at the restaurant Ventanas on Friday night and they advertise all you can eat prime rib on Fridays for 12.95 so I ordered it and it was delicious. One of the best slices I have ever had, thick, rare, lean and it came with a glass of wine and dessert, but I think our waitress didn't know that. She brought our food and we never saw her again. I had to ask the hostess for a second slice of prime rib, which was nothing like the first one. Very thin, well done and fatty. I also then asked for that glass of wine which eventually arrived. She never refilled our water glasses and everyone grew tired of waiting. We skipped the restaurant on Saturday even though it was "kids eat free" ...not worth it. We tried again Sunday morning for breakfast and the place was packed and only two waitresses. We were told to sign in and they would be with us when they could. We left and walked across the street to Denny's.
I was under the impression that Holiday Inn's had free breakfast bars, but that is not the case at this Holiday Inn.

“Bathrooms need help”

Lompoc, CA

We just got back from a Memorial Day weekend stay while going to Knotts and Soak City. I'll give the pro's and con's and you can decide for yourself if it fits your requirements:

Pro's:
1. Great price for the kids suite which has sleeping arrangements for 5 people (3 kids 2 adults). The kids area is separated by a wall so they can watch their own TV. Most places require 2 rooms for families over 4 people.

2. Plenty of towels available in the bathroom for large families. Same as the pool area.

3. The pool is big, warm and clean. So is the Jacuzzi.

4. It was nice having a bar onsite so you could drink while sitting at the pool.

5. The hotel is located near the Buena Park attractions and great restaurants.

6. Great Wi-Fi system available in lobby, pool and rooms.

Con's
1. The bathroom was awful! The shower/tub did not drain, two seconds after turning on the shower the water would be above your ankles, 2 minutes and it was half way up your leg.

2.The toilet would not flush correctly. You have to hold the handle down for 10 seconds to get the contents to disappear. Not pleasant.

3. Late housekeeping. Each day we'd return from the parks around 3:00 PM for a break and our room was still being cleaned.

4. They advertise a playstation game in the kids suite, however they no longer have any games available for checkout. So you have to bring your own games if you want to use the system.

5. The kids wanted to watch a DVD on the playstation, however the sound was not working from the playstation, so they watched it using subtitles.

6. The remote controls for the TV's would only work if pointed in a certain angle.

7. If you plan on walking to Knott's be warned it's longer than you may think and if you have very young children it's dangerous with speeding cars passing by just a few feet from sidewalks. I wouldn't have mentioned this but when reserving the room they claimed that the walk from the hotel was shorter than the walk from the Knott's parking lot. This is not the case.

8. Free breakfast is not included in room price, you can pay more for the room to get the free breakfast, but with Po Folks' just down the street we figured we'd just go there.

The fact that we had to pay $50 bucks for breakfast put this hotel at about the same price other hotels were charging that included breakfast. With this being the case I'd have to say I would book with those offering the free breakfast with more upscale rooms instead of the economy rooms offered at this hotel with no breakfast.

First, thank you for your positive comments. Much appreciated! We do want to apologize for the issues that arose during your stay and address a few of them.

Plumbing concerns - -- but we truly appreciate it when guests let us know during their stay if there are issues, especially plumbing related, so that we can address them (most can be addressed fairly quickly and if not, we are happy to re-accommodate)We do routine maintenance and housekeeping checks for draining issues daily when cleaning, but problems do occur and we want to ensure they are addressed quickly for the convenience of all guests.
After reading your review, we've gone through all of the Kidsuites and checked drainage and toilet functionality.

Playstation , DVD, remote- we have discontinued our playstation games as previous guests have invited themselves to the games (i've removed reference on our website) - and have sent our maintenance department to check on the sound for the DVD, which should be functional and have replaced the batteries on the remote control to resolve those issues- please let us know on future stays if issues such as this arise so we can fix them and so that you are not inconvenienced during your stay.

Housekeeping - this is a difficult issue, as some guests prefer a late housekeeping service and others prefer an early service. Our housekeepers are available 8am - 5pm daily. The best bet is to let the front desk or housekeeping department know during your stay when you'd prefer for your room to be serviced so that we are able to meet your specific needs. We do our very best to accommodate such requests.

Breakfast - we do not offer a 'free' breakfast, however kids to eat free at all Holiday Inn's -- and we do offer a Best 4 Breakfast rate which is typically only $15 more than Best Flexible Rate offer. This is typically quite competitive with the other hotels in the are which offer a 'free' breakfast.

Lastly, we are very excited to let you and other readers know that we've been in the process of upgrading/updating our guest rooms. We're replacing beds, adding bed 'toppers' for added comfort, upgraded linens and towls, new carpet/drapes, updated bathroom counters, etc, etc. Take a look at our website as we've loaded the most recent photos. We have 1 floor completed and will be working on the next three floors throughout the summer. You'll find on your next visit to the Holiday Inn Buena Park that our rooms will hardly be able to be called 'economy' -- please let us know how you like them.

We sincerely do appreciate guest comments and suggestions -- especially when given directly to front desk and/or management during your stay, so that we are able to quickly and efficiently resolve them -- allowing you to fully enjoy your vacation or trip to California.

Warm regards,
Melissa and the team at the Holiday Inn Buena Park

“Good hotel-friendly staff”

Holiday Inn Buena Park Hotel

11 May 2008

We stayed in a non-smoking room on the ground floor next to the pool. The room was quiet and comfortable, If you want peace, ask for a poolside room, as the rooms on the outside have busy roads around them. We also paid $10 a day for a small refrigerator, which was excellent. One word of warning, the people on either side of us who were in non smoking rooms, used the patio area outside to smoke. This drifted into our room through the air con. We checked with the front desk and they confirmed that non smoking included the patio areas. They had to send security down twice to get the neighbours to stop smoking. But the Front Desk were very courteous and discounted my bill at check out.
This is an ideal hotel if you are going to Disney & Knotts Berry Farm. The Courtesy bus is very efficient and the drivers couldn't be more friendly.
I've stayed in some upmarket hotels in my time. Although the Holiday Inn isn't in the same league, what it lacks in sophistication, it makes up by the very friendly and helpful staff.
We didn't use the restaurant as the food looked more like McDonalds, but there are plently of restaurants in the area.
Would I stay there again? Most definitely!!
