I don't understand how they have the nerve to ask for EIGHT dollars per person to see this little geyser. I've seen geysers before and this one is very disappointing. Next time a water pipe bursts in your neighborhood - you'll get the same effect for free.

Hey, if you're in the neighborhood, its worth the 20 minutes to take a look. If you make a day trip to see the geyser, well, at least you'll have something to laugh about on your way back home. If you like science and nature, its interesting, but otherwise, you'll probably be a little disappointed...

The young man at the gift shop was one of the nicest and most courteous people we met on our trip. The geyser is located in the middle of a grassy area with a scattering of picnic tables. We were thrilled to hear the gurgling and see the geyser as it began to spurt water. As we all watched, the pressure built until we were able to see the magnificent geyser become taller and taller, eventually releasing the pressure, disappearing, and gathering steam to do it again some fifteen minutes later.

Visited Calistoga in the first week of March and loved Old Faithful. It erupted once every 6 to 7 minutes and the water shot up about 60 feet.
It was one of the highlights of my California trip. (I haven't been to Yellowstone NP, so this was the first time I was seeing a hot water geyser in action).
