Stayed here again for three nights - only because the hotel is less than a mile from our son's home.

The hotel is finally starting renovations - replacing the hall carpeting. The housekeeping staff didn't bother vacuuming the carpeting that hadn't yet been replaced - so the halls were very dirty. The rooms are also in dire need of renovation - dirty walls, dirty carpeting, mold on the grout in the bathroom, mirrors that have seen better days, etc.

There are signs of corners being cut:
The breakfast is not as nice as it used to be. They no longer served cut-up melons, and the orange juice didn't taste right - tang??

The only bathroom amenities were one small bottle of shampoo (not replaced for the three days that we were there - luckily we always travel with a backup bottle), and a small bottle of lotion and a couple of very small soaps.

There were only two pillows on the king-size bed, so we had to request an additional one, which was delivered quickly. On our last day, there were no washcloths in the room - again we called the front desk, and they were delivered quickly.

There was a coffeemaker in the room and packets of coffee, but no condiments for the coffee (sugar and creamer).

We were generally disappointed with this hotel, and would not stay here again if the location wasn't so convenient for us.

A good value for it's proximity to San Diego and the Pacific Beach. Very convenient to the "5", yet despite the extremely heavy traffic, the room was very quiet. The motel was full but for as peaceful as it was you wouldn't have known it. The staff was helpful, sincere and very cooperative. The pool is small, so if you are looking for a place to do some swimming, this probably would not work for you. Breakfast included fruit, scrambled eggs, breads, rolls, cereals, sweet rolls, juices, coffee, etc. Nothing real fancy or elaborate, but it certainly filled us up each morning. There's a lot to do and see in the area without having to go far. We would stay here again without question.

I just returned from a wedding this past week and knowing nothing about the San Diego area, I wanted to stay proximate to my sister in Cardiff.

The Comfort In at Cardiff by the Sea pleasantly surpassed my expectations. The decor is a little dated but the room was quite clean, everything worked exactly as it should and the staff was professional and friendly.

Being a hospitality owner/manager for many years, I couldn't help but peak into the laundry and kitchen prep areas as I passed. I did not eat in the restaurant with the weekend's schedule of events so I cannot comment there. However, both were quite clean and well-organized which told me a lot. Someone's watching the business and it's apparent.

I don't normally write reviews, etc. but was impressed with the care and attention to detail that was evident here. This property is easily a solid to upper "three" stars.
