I spent one night with my mom as we traveled through Carmel. As promised by other reviews on TripAdvisor, the location (4 blocks from the beach and walking distance to great restaurants and shops) and garden courtyard were perfect. Our upstairs room was larger than I expected and very well furnished and kept. Linens were standard, but shutters on the balcony doors and windows were not only pretty but useful for privacy when leaving open for an ocean crossbreeze. The staff and breakfast service was good, although not exceptional (very sugary breakfast sweetroll and weak coffee, but complimentary and prompt). Rooms felt private and quiet, although you could hear people on stairs and flushing toilets - not surprising and not at all intrusive and bothersome. All in all, a wonderful place to stay in an otherwise very pricey town.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights in late March, and had an absolutely great experience. Our room (reserved under the cheapest, "economy" option) was huge, included a seperate sitting area by the television and lots of space to move around -- it felt like a small garden apartment. The grounds of the hotel were bright and cheery. The in-room continental breakfast was also a plus, the food was nothing too special but the convenience was great. Our room also had a small fridge, even a convenient corkscrew.

The Lobos is a short 5-minute walk to the beautiful beach, and the hotel is nestled among shops and restaurants on the main street in Carmel.

Definitely a great choice -- we did a lot of research before deciding to stay here and it was by far the best option. The only suggestion I would make is that they look into making some kind of internet access an option.

Like all the other reviewers for Lobos - this is a good hotel and solid choice for Carmel - great location, big rooms, fair price, coffee and muffins brought to your room. I'll stay here again.

We stayed for 1 night at this hotel after having read the Tripadvisor reviews.
I have to say that everything was above my expectations!
We asked for adjoining rooms as we were travelling with my 3 year old and his nanny. My husband and I got a room that was at least 500 sq. ft. and was very, very comfortable. My son's room was just as big as mine and very well appointed.
Both rooms were bigger and better than any other hotelroom we have been anywhere, and we travel extensively here and in Europe!
The room had a fireplace, a sitting area, a little dining area, a dressing room area, a very ample closet area, and the usual bathroom and bedroom areas.
It was not luxurious, but not shabby at all either. What a bargain, and such a refreshing thing to find that you can still find such value for your money!
The location is unbeatable... you can walk everywhere!
If you come to Carmel, please do not look for anywhere else to stay. You will be as surprised as we were!
