We stayed here only one night and we very happy with our room. Only problem I had was I didn't want to be on the ground level (there were some previous complains). I booked 3 months in advance and was still on the ground floor. Luckily, no one was above us ;o)
That being said, it was a blessing in disguise that we didn't get a level up. This lodge is NOT handicap friendly. We had a baby in a stroller and it was a little difficult with the steps and all. Being on the ground floor actually help us out in the end.
The room is more than adequate and they are located close to everything. Our room had a sitting area, a fireplace, a king bed and pull out sofa and a nice bathroom area. There was also a patio. The front desk person was very sweet and down to earth.
Carmel is so beautifully manicured and clean, you'll just love it. The courtyards and gardens (layout) just makes the place. We enjoyed a breakfast outside in a local park. They even provide doggie waste bags in the parks, I had to chuckle, but that's great! Our dinner at the seafood restaurant was awesome because of the service, down to earth people and the manager. Clint Eastwoods ranch and the mission should not be missed.
Beware, the locals in Carmel can be somewhat snobbish. If you are like us, down to earth and humble, it's hard to find people like yourself. They seem to have superiority complexes and this is the ONLY thing that ruins the town. Don't these people realize we can play that game too, we just choose not too! ha ;o) and yes, even we have $$ so don't turn your nose up!! They may come from money but they need to volunteer a bit more with people (not animals) to get a glimpse of the real world. I think it might crack their faces to smile a while ;o)
We enjoyed our stay and wished we had stayed longer but were on our way down the coast. We stayed in Pismo Beach at the Kon Tiki Inn and the people there were just fantastic (mostly people from inland coming out to enjoy the beach and grass ;o)
