We stayed here only one night and we very happy with our room. Only problem I had was I didn't want to be on the ground level (there were some previous complains). I booked 3 months in advance and was still on the ground floor. Luckily, no one was above us ;o)

That being said, it was a blessing in disguise that we didn't get a level up. This lodge is NOT handicap friendly. We had a baby in a stroller and it was a little difficult with the steps and all. Being on the ground floor actually help us out in the end.

The room is more than adequate and they are located close to everything. Our room had a sitting area, a fireplace, a king bed and pull out sofa and a nice bathroom area. There was also a patio. The front desk person was very sweet and down to earth.

Carmel is so beautifully manicured and clean, you'll just love it. The courtyards and gardens (layout) just makes the place. We enjoyed a breakfast outside in a local park. They even provide doggie waste bags in the parks, I had to chuckle, but that's great! Our dinner at the seafood restaurant was awesome because of the service, down to earth people and the manager. Clint Eastwoods ranch and the mission should not be missed.

Beware, the locals in Carmel can be somewhat snobbish. If you are like us, down to earth and humble, it's hard to find people like yourself. They seem to have superiority complexes and this is the ONLY thing that ruins the town. Don't these people realize we can play that game too, we just choose not too! ha ;o) and yes, even we have $$ so don't turn your nose up!! They may come from money but they need to volunteer a bit more with people (not animals) to get a glimpse of the real world. I think it might crack their faces to smile a while ;o)

We enjoyed our stay and wished we had stayed longer but were on our way down the coast. We stayed in Pismo Beach at the Kon Tiki Inn and the people there were just fantastic (mostly people from inland coming out to enjoy the beach and grass ;o)

The Lobos lodge is very conveniently situated – right on the border of the street blocks with all the galleries and restaurants and also within a short walking distance in the other direction to the beautiful beach. It also has its own car park area. The site map on the web site indicates that rooms vary in size. We went for one of the larger ones and were very satisfied with the size of both the bedroom (including seating area, coffee table and telly) and bathroom. The rooms can get quite hot during the day, but a fan is provided and a breeze can be let in through the balcony. Every morning at your required time, tea or coffee and a muffin each are brought to your room, which is a nice touch. It is probably not a sufficient breakfast, but there are some sandwich shops nearby. Reception was very helpful with restaurant recommendations and have all the menus to hand as well. The only snag would be all the little stairs (down from reception or car park area and then up to your room), which means lugging your luggage around, and which may be a problem for wheelchair users, although there may be some ground floor access rooms. I would definitely stay here again. It doesn’t blow your socks off, but it is more than adequate and very conveniently located.

It's always a risk booking accommodation on-line but we were pleased with our choice here!

We stayed here after visiting Montreal, New York, San Francisco and Yosemite, so we had gathered some idea of American standards of accomodation, service and value for money (we are from Sydney).

Our room was immaculately clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. In fact it was huge by motel standards, more a suite design with lounge area and doors opening onto the main road.

Service at reception was impeccable too, and breakfast in the room is a nice touch. They even have a turn down service!

The lodge is set in manicured gardens (reflecting the incredibly twee town in which it resides) and noise from outside is minimal.

The only negative we can note, and the single thing that stops us giving 5 stars, is the noise from the room above, which was quite bad in the mornings - footsteps, showering and conversation. I think this was made worse by the fact we were on the ground floor. It certainly didn't spoil our stay, however.

All in all, we'd certainly recommend it. Carmel itself, however, well that's another matter! Not our cup of tea, let's say.

Stayed overnight while visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium. This is a very clean, well run establishment. Quaint and very nice although the furnishings are slightly dated. Still nice with spacious rooms and an awesome location... we'll definitely go back.

Breakfast delivered to your room (muffins, coffee, hot choc and oj). This is a teriffic value right in the village...hard to believe the price is so reasonable.

A few observations... the desk closes at 9 or 10 pm so if you need anything after that you're sorta out of luck. The maid was just leaving as we arrived around 8pm and gave us additional towels but anything we might have needed between 9pm and 8am we wouldn't have had help with. In our case, my 2 year old got sick and a little bit got on the sheets. There was basically no chance of getting new ones because everyone was gone. We cleaned it all up and managed to make do, but if the problem was major, we would have been in for a long night.

Also, being in Carmel, I imagine they rarely have a need for Air Conditioning... good thing because they don't have it. They really didn't have any air circulation in the room either so it felt a bit stuffy. Probably something a little fresh air could have helped with, however they advise that you close and lock the windows at night. In the morning we discovered a fan in the closet... wish we had seen it the night before.

All in all, despite a few idiosyncrasies I would not hesitate to go there again.

We stayed at the Lobos Lodge with our infant for two nights. We originally had booked for one, but expanded to a second night to spend a little extra time in Carmel.

A very nice lodge-type hotel, right on the main drag in Carmel and only four hilly blocks from the beach. The staff were friendly and accomodating.

The room was large (and we had one of the smaller rooms) and very reasonably priced for Carmel. All other hotels, which might have been a little fancier, were at least twice as much.

If you have an infant, you may want to bring a portable crib, as tehy did not have one available.

Overall, a great stay.
