I really loved the Pine Inn! I read the other reviews and while there are stairs going up to the lobby and no elevators, this did not bother us at all. The bellman assisted us with luggage and the staff was very kind. The decor was really beautiful and charming and for $149 a night in Carmel including breakfast, we thought it was a great deal. It's a historical hotel and they do a wonderful job in maintaining the property and the location is excellent! We had a great time and will definitely return!

The lobby reminds you of a true old world hotel, great first impression, but... Even the full sized king rooms are VERY small and the decor in the rooms does not live up to the style set by the lobby. If you have a room overlooking 6th street, the deliveries from the restaurant start in the early morning and idling trucks may be present for extended periods throughout the day.
With all the wonderful inns in Carmel, why take the risk.

The hotel is located just a few blocks from the beach on Ocean Avenue.
It is a historic building, 146 years old and the receptionists felt we should of known this???? Therefore, if you have difficultly with steps...forget it!!
No elevators...no floors on the main floor, plus many steps up to the lobby!

Pretty snooty receptionist said if we knew Carmel, we would know this...blah, blah, blah!!!

Complimentry breakfast was good!

Found a great bar, burger place...Jack Londons...Eastwoods place the
Hogs Breath smelled funny to us and we walked out...lots of GREAT dining restaurants...

would not stay here again...young enough to do steps...simply did not like their attitude...
