Our room was one of the smallest rooms they have to offer, but it was $120 per night, not bad for summer time, and it was very clean, neat, and quiet.

The breakfast was very good (fresh fruits, bagels, ect) and the staff was very helpful.

Not luxurious, but very cozy. Expect a small room, small breakfast, and no parking. But it's good for what you pay for, and it looks very cute.

“Cute Place to Stay in Carmel”

This is a cute and very comfortable place to stay when in Carmel. Room 25 was very nice with comfortable chairs, and a gas fireplace. George and the rest of the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was served in a room with a fireplace and trays were proved if you wanted to take things back to your room. Loved the little garden and would love to stay here again.

If in Carmel this could be the place for you! While the rooms don't seem to be very big the place offers much more. Having a fireplace in your room is very special, something that you just don't get in most places. In walking distance of everything, and really cute!!!!!

We stayed at the Dolores Cottage, a Fireplace Inn property right around the corner from the Inn. First off parking an SUV in the small parking area provided, was quite challenging, but after a few shots worked out okay. Upon entering the cottage ($350/night with a dog) we were somewhat put off by the compact size of the unit, the kitchen was roomy enough, the living room was ample, but the couch was quite uncomfortable and did not invite you to relax at all. As for the bedrooms (no tv's), the largest at least has space to move around somewhat, but is very noisy due to being ground level on Dolores St. it has an adjoining bathroom, which can be entered into from either bedroom, the second bedroom although quieter is no larger than a postage stamp, you get out of bed and you stub your toe on the wall, this bedroom has a 1/2 bath, with the most ill placed toilet imaginable, you literally had to climb a step to use it and if it's dark you could really injury yourself falling off the toilet. The cottage does have a nice small deck overlooking the parking area with a table/chairs and umbrella which is nice on those rare sunny Carmel days. The housekeeping staff was excellent, be advised this cottage is tended to last, usually around 3pm, but it is cleaned to perfection. To enjoy the complimentary breakfast you have to walk or drive a block to the main inn, which when bringing your meal back to the cottage can be quite a challenge, but the breakfast attendants on all occasions were quite pleasant. Now the downside, upon checking in the desk staff could barely muster up a hello, and on our checkout morning we received a call at 10:55am warning us we better get out because they have a lot of paperwork to do (even tho we confirmed the previous night, with another rude desk clerk that the room was not reserved), hey checkout is 11am and we're a block away and your pushing us out the door when were paying $350.00/a night, great customer service. Oh yeah barely a thank you upon checking out too!

“cozy in carmel”

Carmel Fireplace Inn was a last minute substitute when a relative dropped out of the trip. It is well located in Carmel. We liked the chocolate chip cookies on arrrival, the fireplace, spacious unit (#17) with a cozy kitchen. Housekeeping did our dishes and hung up clothes. The breakfast basket was well stocked if not deluxe. The large jacuzzi was a bit sedate for our kids but might be just right for others. Main complaint was a substantial amount of neighbor noise from poor insulation. Like everything else in Carmel, it is not cheap. The Carmel Sands Inn across the street looks like a comparable stay if the Fireplace Inn is full.

We went to Carmel for a nice romantic getaway in late Feb 05. We enjoyed our stay ar the Fireplace Inn. Room #36 was very nice, with both a gas fireplace and a heater. It had lots of windows with nice light, and a view of the bay. The king bed was separated from the living room by a square archway, wich made for a nice feeling of space. The living-room area had a nice Sony TV and pretty chairs, and a small refrigerator. Everything was in fine condition.
The B&B was well-located, 2 blocks from the center of the main downtown street. and there are many other B&B/Hotels nearby. The staff (and owner) were all extremely friendly. I think the continental breakfast was above average, with a nice selection of fruit, and they had nicer pastries in addition to the usual Costco muffins. On-site parking is very minimal, but there's a fair amount of street parking nearby, both 90 minute and unlimited. The had a decent selection (50-100 titles) of free movies for use in the in-room VCRs.
By Carmel lodging standards, we felt it was a very good value (somewhat below $200) and we'd stay there again.
