We stayed at this hotel last weekend at room 202. Even though this was a last minute booking because other hotels have no vacancies, we were very pleasantly surprised by how nice the experience was. We arrived around noon instead of 3 pm, but the friendly front desk checked us in anyway. The room is actually a suite with a large living room and wood-burning fireplace and a small kitchen. The bedroom and bathroom are very clean. We took full advantage of the fireplace for the chilly night and loved the fresh pinewood smell! Breakfast was adquate, I even loved the pastries! What I also liked about this place is that is relatively quite because it's only one floor, and the bed is very comfortable. We had actually sleeped very well unlike in other hotels.
It's a bit of a walk to the beach, 7-8 blocks, but we enjoyed the walking after great meals in town. Overall I would rate the experience as great, and would definitely come back again!

It is so hard to pick a hotel by looking at pictures from the internet! This hotel was such a relief to walk in to - The lady front desk was very warm and helpful, the room was beautifully remodeled with granite counters, clean linens, pretty stonework, and a beautiful view of the ocean from the balcony. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a excellent value and a great location (you can walk to anything from here). If you do stay in Carmel you have to try the Little Swiss Cafe for breakfast (eggs benedict) and Mission Ranch for dinner - The most beautiful sunset can be seen from their outdoor patio dining area!

Just returned from a wonderful visit in Carmel. The Horizon Inn is a great place to visit with a very courteous staff. The rooms are VERY clean and well taken care of. The Inn is very close walking distance to all of the restaurants and quaint shops. In the morning the staff delvers a picnic basket in front of your door filled with breakfast items and the morning paper. Everyone is knowledable of the area for directions and information. You can tell the management and/or owners really care about the property and the upkeep and maintenance. That is important. We drove to 17 mile drive, went to Point Lobos and enjoyed all the shops. Do not miss Pont Losbos that was a highlight of
our trip.

We called Horizon on a Friday night hoping that they would relax the "two night minimum stay on weekends" policy that seems to plague Carmel since we only needed a place for Saturday night. They did, and they are pet friendly!!

Upon being offered two choices of rooms, one "standard queen" and one suite with jacuzzi, we opted for the $160 standard room. We showed up and were directed to an annex across the street from the main hotel. We were assigned room #206 (or maybe it was #207). WOW!!! Considering the fair price (relatively speaking, Carmel is very expensive) we were expecting Motel 6 and were given a great room!! We had a very sunny room with a balcony with a distant (but clear) ocean view, super comfy queen bed with nice linens, a mini fridge, and were shocked when we opened our door in the morning to find an picnic basket full of breakfast goodies and the newspaper at our door.

This place is great and I would highly recommend it.
