“Dog and couple enjoyed it”

Very dog friendly place and town! Quiet and relaxing. Hotel has nice large pool and grounds, but the hot tub looked really old and yellow so didn't try it. Dog even got to hang out with us on the pool patio! Staff was very eager to please and surprisingly dog and family friendly! Wine tasting rooms and restaurants within walking distance to Carmel Valley Village. They even let dogs inside wine tasting rooms and restaurant patios. Not too far from crowded Carmel by the Sea (about 15 min. drive). Only complaint was window treatments/shutters didn't conceal night lights on the grounds so it was sort of hard to fall asleep. Also, could've used a hot breakfast, but not a big deal. I'd stay there again and would try one of the cottages.

My husband and I stayed here with our dog and had a lovely time. The furniture could use a bit of upgrading as we could feel the wood frame when we sat on the couch but the decadent smores ingredients they left for were awesome. I haven't had smores since I was a teenager and these were excellent. Also, the breakfast which is provided is rather extensive for a continental breakfast, we were very happy and the food was yummy!

My husband and I wanted to go out for a romantic dinner and we made arrangements at the front desk for them to dogsit for us and this allowed us to indulge at Anton & Michel, a wonderful restaurant that I highly recommend.

There were other dog lovers there with their companions and we had a wonderful time. We'll stay there again in the off season because it's always booked during the summer ;-)

“Good place for dogs, close to fun stuff”

This place definitely met our needs. We wanted a place that would take both us and our puppy, was good for walking, and relatively close to dining and shopping. While the lodge is certainly not the most swanky place in the world, they don't charge those rates either. What we got for our $220/nite was a clean single bedroom cottage at a quiet old school resort.

The park right across the street on Ford was very nice for evening and morning walks. Town was a very short walk away and of course Carmel was about 12 miles away.

We'd stay there again.

We just came back from a wonderful 2 night stay at the Lodge just days ago. Upon arriving in Carmel Valley, we had plans of possibly staying somewhere else, but came across the Carmel Valley Lodge instead. At first, we were only going to stay 1 night, but decided since it was so quiet and comfortable, we stayed an extra day. We were upgraded to the fireplace room at a very reasonable price. It gives you the feel of being in a cozy cabin. It had the amenities of a fridge, microwave, and kitchen utensils. We had a real wood burning fireplace, with plenty of wood to burn. Our room overlooked the beautiful pool area. The grounds were very well maintained. We enjoyed the morning breakfast, which consisted of coffee, juices, cereals, muffins, breads, and fresh fruit. We had a chance to meet the owner, Peter, who went out of his way to make our stay very pleasant, as well as the rest of the staff who did the same. We know where we will be staying at our next visit to Carmel Valley.

We just returned from a one night stay at this inn and wished we could've stayed longer! There is a friendly staff at the front desk who gave us good information about the area and they even gave our dog a package of goodies upon check-in. We had packed a picnic lunch and was able to eat across the street at the community center. Our room was a little on the small side but it was clean and ready for us before 3pm. Just down the street you'll find many restaurants and some wineries. I recommend "Brunellos" Italian restaurant for dinner. My husband & I split a caesar salad and our pasta dishes were both excellent. Good prices too! Each room seems to have a TV/VCR and the lobby is stocked with plenty movies which you can take with you to your room...most of them "oldie but goodies". Altho Carmel Valley lacks the stores & galleries of Carmel-by-the-Sea, it has it's own "country" feel...and it's only a short drive to the ocean!
