After dropping friends off at the fabulous Biltmore in Santa Barbara, we drove to this Best Western. While there's really no comparison, we were delighted with the lovely courtyard and polished ambiance of the Inn, as well as the room size - nearly as large as a Biltmore Suite, and about $600 less! Everything spotless, with a large bathroom and nice assortment of lotions, soaps, etc. We appreciate quality, and found it here. However, at 1 in the morning, the room smoke alarm started to beep. And beep. And beep. We called the front desk, and to our dismay, they said there was 'nothing they could do.' After thirty minutes of beeping, we called back and requested another room, which they gave us, although it was close to the freeway and noisy. We didn't sleep much the rest of the night. The next morning the front desk offered us $25 off our stay, which didn't seem quite right. (We are not demanding travellers, but felt the beeping alarm and lack of effort around it should be compensated.) Another staffer offered us half off, which we agreed to. However, when my companion called the General Manager, once home, he apologized very graciously and has given us a complimentary night. I know that unintended events happen, things can go wrong, and I don't hold it against hotel management, especially when they acknowledge the problem. (In fact, they deserve praise for it.)Had we had a sound night of sleep, I would have given this place five stars, and recommend to those who appreciate good value, and who don't mind a ten minute trip into Santa Barbara. For a chain hotel, it was even charming.

We stayed at this hotel for one night on our way travelling from San Francisco to Los Angeles. We were part of an arranged tour called a Contiki tour which is for 18 - 35 year olds. The hotel room was really quite large. The beds were comfortable and there were a lot of channels on the tv. The water pressure in the shower is amazing! Im not sure if the hotel provides complimentry breakfast, however we were given dinner and breakfast as part of our tour. Both meals were served in the hotels restaurant located on the third floor. The restaurant is fairly small and our tour took over the whole restaurant and bar. In the lobby there is a computer which has free internet access. This was a really appreciated service. The hotel is located pretty much in the middle of no where. Our tour was the life of the party. This location is the last place visited on the Contiki tour so i wouldn't recommend staying here when the tour is here. As the night got later, the people on the tour got louder. I feel sorry for other guests who were staying in the hotel. The tour stays in the hotel about once every two weeks, so just make sure that you have a hotel room that is on a different floor to the tour people.
Overall, the hotel was really good. The pool area and the spa looked nice. The rooms were really comfortable and the free internet access in the lobby was really welcomed.

We stayed here for one night (12/28) on a drive down the coast. The room was clean and comfortable, as was the bathroom. We requested a courtyard room, since the hotel is right next to the freeway. Freeway noise wasn't a problem for us. The property was beautiful and well maintained, especially the nice little inner courtyard. The only complaint we had was the lack of an included breakfast. We'd definitely stay there again.

We wanted to stay in the Santa Barbara area at a reasonable price. We knew Carpinteria was not far from Santa Barbara so we thought we would take a chance on the Best Western. This Best Western is nicely decorated, has a friendly staff and is conveniently located just off the 101 highway. We were pleasantly surpised at how nice the hotel was concidering the area.
