We stayed at the Beachwalker Inn for two nights in June. It was like a ghost town. There was only one other guest both nights. No wonder. The room was clean and well maintained but the service was pretty bad. We booked the room because it had a kitchenette and a barbecue on the patio. When I began to cook, I realized that there were only two forks and no sharp knife at all. This was supposed to be a fully equipped kitchen. When I asked the front desk for more forks the front desk person gave me an exasperated look and then provided two plastic forks. I mean, come on, the place was empty and she couldn't find two metal forks from the other kitchenettes.
Then I went to use the barbecue and of course it was out of propane or broken and the front desk person told me she couldn't help me because she didn't know how to change the propane tank. I tried to change it myself but the connector was funky and their was no light on the patio.
The room included a sofa bed but when I went to pull it out their was only a wool blanket and no pillows given. I looked everywhere and couldn't find them. After my last two encounters with the front desk person, I definitely was not going back for more. So we made do with two pillows for the four of us.
The next day we spent the day at the beach and returned around 4:00 to find the room wasn't made up. When I asked about it they told me the chamber maid was just getting to the premises. Usually I wouldn't really mind but since I was the only guest in the motel at the time, couldn't the front desk person come up and refresh the towels at least? So we skipped the chamber maid because it was time to prepare dinner.
The front desk person on the second day was much more helpful and cheery. Apparently, there was an attempt to fix the propane tank but I couldn't get it to work that day either.
The continental breakfast consisted of muffins or danish, canned fruit salad and orange juice. On the second day the orange juice had turn sour.
This place could be a good place to stay but it seems that they could have better service. They even had the nerve to ask the guest to clean and put away there own dishes before they left the room. I've stayed at kitchenettes before and have never been asked to do that. Besides I don't want a former guest to be cleaning the dishes that I am going to eat from. I want a paid chamber maid. I had to clean the dishes before I used them because the last guest didn't rinse the soap from them properly.
This room was $20 more a night than the other motels in two and not worth it.
