Cayucos Sunset Inn

I looooved this place. We reserved a junior suite, but were pleased when we arrived to be upgraded to a two-room suite, complete with two fireplaces, a jacuzzi and separate shower. Fantastic, absolutely the nicest by far that I've ever stayed in at any hotel, and ours looked exactly as pictured on their web site. The innkeepers have obviously taken great care in decorating and maintaining the inn.

The breakfast was good, sunset hour with wine and appetizers was great after a day at Hearst Castle, and cookies and milk, with Ferrer Rocher chocolates at bedtime were a nice touch. We had dinner one night at Schooners (so-so) and the other night at Hoppe's (very good).

As other reviewers mentioned, the Inn is on the street, and there are buildings between it and the ocean, so the ocean view is limited and we did not really use the spacious balcony.

the owners of this Inn really want your stay to be happy. I can thoroughly recommend this Inn, do ask for the Pacific view rooms, makes all the difference. Hoppe's for dinner or lunch should not be missed and the proximity to HEarst Castle is perfect.

We stayed four nights, two adults and two young children. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They arranged reservations and babysitting. The linens are exceptional, and the breakfasts are just wonderful - and filling. The afternoon wine and cheese and nightly cookies are all delicious. The only improvement would be if the inn were on the ocean, instead of the main street; however, the street was quiet at night, and we slept with the windows open.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in Nov 2004.
We stayed in the Sunset Suite. The room is very elegant with all the amenities you could want.
The wine tasting in the evening was great, the breakfast provide in the morning was terrific.
The chocolate chip cookies and milk delivered to your room at night was great. They offer a turn down service if you wish. The hospitality here is wonderful, they truly go out of their way to make sure your stay is special. They recommended Hoppe's for dinner and we ate their both nights and we were very pleased with our meals. We can't wait to return to this quite water front town and to stay at the Sunset Inn!

Amazing! Gorgeous, spacious, well-appointed suites - on par w/any 5 star hotel, but w/boutique feel. Huge tubs, luxurious robes, delicious food at every setting. Only minor drawback is location - it's not on the beach, but a busy road that looks over businesses and houses to the beach - if you're on the 2nd FL. Hoppe's Restaurant, w/in walking distance was incredible and well-priced. Saloon has shuffleboard and live music. We had a great time and told everyone about it when we got back.
