We found Bidwell House on Trip Advisor while looking for a place to stay while visiting Mt Lassen.
We stayed for two nites in June [Mon, Tue] for $250 incl tax. We were in the Bidwell Room, above the dining room but it was quiet. The room had a wood burning fireplace [with wood supplied] but we didn't use it.
They have a refrigerator/freezer for guests to use and there's a microwave for heating popcorn, frozen pizza.
Hosts Eva and Filip made us feel very much at home. In the afternoon it's neat to sit in the sun room and watch the wind "vibrate" the leaves on the tall trees across the side yard.

We enjoyed our stay at the Bidwell House immensely. We had no reservations and were greated warmly and shown a selection of rooms. We stayed in Hunters Glen, a large room with a jacuzzi tub, sitting area and antique armoire. Breakfast was scrumptious and the staff went out of their way to be courteous.

We'd stay there again, but we'd chose an upstairs room. The floors above were quite creaky from the guests staying in the room above us.

“Very Pleasant Stay”

We spent one night in the cottage adjacent to the inn. It was very private and quiet. The innkeepers, Eva and Filip, were very friendly and helpful. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, good sized living room with wood stove, and a bedroom. Our only disappointment was the bedroom was very small and had only a double bed which pretty much filled the room. The bathroom was also quite small with just a very small single basin vanity.

The innkeepers served a delicious breakfast in the morning and offered granola, juices, an excellent omelette and homemade nut bread.

We enjoyed our stay and would probably stay there again if in the area. I would be cautious about staying there in the heat of the summer as there was no air conditioning, at least in the cottage.

We have been coming to Bidwell House for 10 years now. We brought another couple with us this time and stayed in their best rooms (Robin's Roost + Meadow View). The rooms are lovely, breakfast is delicious + their coffee is great. We'll be back...

“Well below par”

Bidwell House

Other than a decent breakfast, our stay was a massive disappointment, first and foremost because of the noise that has kept us up practically the whole night. The Bidwell House is located right on a main road with quite a bit of traffic, hence the noise. We could also hear snoring from across the wall. Then there were a few other negatives, particularly in the bathroom (defective shower fixtures, tub without enclosure or curtain, etc.). The overall feel of the place: a bit old, not particularly inviting, and definitely below the level of the other bed & breakfast we have visited in recent years.
