My husband and I just returned from a six day vacation to Coronado, and we stayed at the La Avenida Inn. This is the fourth time we've stayed at La Avenida and we love it. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, and the location is awesome!!! There are only a few things about it that I would change.
1. Room price went up by 50% since we last stayed. Two years ago it was $99 per night; our stay was $150 per night. Pricey, but still a bargain on Coronado across the street from the Hotel Del.
2. Bedspreads are the same as our first stay, over 7 years ago. It's time to get new ones!
3. They charged $5 per night for a small refrigerator.
The hotel isn't fancy by any stretch, but if you are interested in a clean place to stay, located in the very center of Coronado, then this is the place for you. Just remember to ask for a second floor room, otherwise you will hear the people above you all night. Also, the condensation from the air conditioner in the unit above us dripped onto our air conditioner case and it was drip, drip, drip until we went out and put a towel on the top of our air conditioner. Always ask for a second story room!!!

Pros:
Location
Good price
Pool (although it was too cold to swim)
Free parking included
The grounds keeper was very nice
Clean

Cons:
Continental breakfast is pretty weak
Thin walls
Can hear cars on road
Front desk staff is ok - they could smile a bit more
Rollaway bed is terrible
Bed was not that comfortable
Soap/shampoo could be upgraded

We happened upon this place while traveling thru Coronado. Great location, very clean no frills room. It was located a quick walk from the Hotel Del or the beach. Another plus was the free parking!

This was a wonderful little motel/hotel. It was 1/2 block away from the Hotel Del and 1/2 block away from the beach. Clean, great staff, wii. No, it is not the Hotel Del, but we got a great room with a far less price than the Hotel Del or any of the other hotels close to the Hotel Del. I consider this place an absolute gem and the savings was fantastic. I highly reccommend this as a great place to stay. Now if your idea of a great place to stay means you stay in your room all the time and demand room service and lots of ammendities I do not recommend La Avenida Inn.
