I am not in the business of bashing hotels BUT just got back from this place and I was NOT impressed. Let me first say that I booked on Priceline and it was only $50. So with that said it wasn't too bad.

One guy behind the counter was really pompus and condescending. Pretty rude in fact. Bartender was a little stand-offish and argued with my wife over a spoiled glass of red wine.

Next, there is a $14 per night charge for parking there. I eventually found the charge hidden deep in their website. Other than that there was noting letting you know of the charge.

Bathroom was dirty and looks like they are in the process of remodeling.

All in all it was just ok. Certainly would not recommend to a friend.

If I could, I would give Wyndham Orange County 4 1/2 stars, not 5.

This is a very nice, clean, and modern mid-level hotel within walking distance of the South Coast Plaza megamall and the Orange County Performing Arts Center.

The Wyndham has nice in-room touches, such as an iPod clock/radio, so you can listen to or wake up to your own tunes or podcasts and a magnifying mirror in the bathroom (handy for putting in one's contacts or applying eye makeup). And if you're a member of Wyndham's member rewards program, you get free Internet access and a welcome drink and snack.

There is no business center, though. So if you didn't bring your laptop, to check your email, you have to pay $3 every 15 minutes at the small computer kiosk near the elevator and vending machine selling everything from iPod speakers to aspirin.

My room on the 6th floor overlooked a quiet man-made lake and corporate but tastefully-designed garden. The king-size bed was ultra-comfortable, and I liked the room lay-out. Even though it was just one room, the lines between the sleeping (bed) and lounging/working areas (sofa/coffeetable/desk) were clearly delineated.

The bathroom had nice thick, fluffy white towels. It was also supposed to sport a bathrobe, though that was missing. The lighting in the bathroom was also good - not too bright nor too dark, and there was plenty of counterspace for one's toiletries.

The front desk clerks were friendly and check-in was quick. They even accommodated a late check-out of 2 p.m., not the usual late check-out time of 1 p.m. I didn't try the gym (I was running the Surf City Marathon the next morning, so I had to rest) nor the restaurant nor room service, so I can't comment on that.

So whlie I had a very pleasant and comfortable stay, why don't I give the Wyndham five stars? Because the Wyndham, bless its money-making little heart, slams you on parking. There is absolutely no street parking, so one has to park one's car in the Wyndham parking garage - to a tune of $14/day for self-parking or $17/day for valet-parking. Ouch.

Despite that, I would definitely stay at the Wyndham again. I'll likely run the Surf City Marathon next year, and may choose this hotel even though it's 10-15 minutes away from Huntington Beach, where the race begins and ends.

I stayed at this hotel for a wedding taking place in the costa mesa area. Upon arrival at the hotel the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The check-in process was very smooth and I didn’t have to wait, which was nice because I was in a hurry to check in and rush to get to the wedding. The staff was helpful and was able to call a cab company for me and was conveniently located within walking distance to many places to eat. The room was very clean with a very comfortable bed. The best part of the room was the view from my sliding glass door that over saw the pool and nearby lake and greenery. It was nice to sit and drink my coffee over looking the area. The price was good for the location and was booked online. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to anyone.

I have been traveling for 4 years and overall I would say this is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in Costa Mesa.
Guestrooms are always very clean and the staff will do whatever it takes to deliver good service. In the guest rooms they have Ipod radio decks, robes, iron/board, coffee makers, hair dryers, down duvets, etc.
Really nice hotel located one block away from South Coast Plaza and steps away from the famous Performing Arts Center
