Seemed like there were alot of little things that made this stay annoying. Before I go into specifics, let me just say that I travel a good bit, and I have certain expectations about the chains I stay in. I am not a haughty-taughty traveller, I generally use Hotwire or book direct thru one of my 'frequent traveller' programs direct with the hotel. Money is important to my comany, so I typically stay in average/nice-average hotels (3-4 star). Occassionally a smoking-hot-cool one. But even as I dip into 2.5 star hotels, I expect some things to be in place... if they aren't I don't go back there. To put it bluntly, I probably will not go back to the Radisson unless I absolutely have to.
The good:
1. free parking.seemed to be plenty of good, free parking. woo hoo! I'm a fan of freedom.
2. free internet (although sometimes stopped working for 5 minutes, randomly)...more freedom (when it worked).
3. It was a bed (not a very comfortable one). Incidentally, it was a sleep number but it didn't seem to work right. Or maybe it was just me...although I have a master degree in computer science, I couldn't get the bed to get comfortable. Truth be told, I don't really want to have to experiment to find my number... just give me a good comfy bed. Why make me lie on a bed for an hour at different settings to determine my sleep number? I don't have the need... I don't have a sleep number at my house, won't buy one, and by the time I stay where they have sleep number beds, I'll have forgotten my number anyway.
4. Interior hallways.yeah, i don't expect alot... but I don't like staying in cheap hotels that have exterior room entrances. When we first drove by the property, I thought it was exterior entrances, but was pleasantly surprised.
5. Atrium gave it a resort-y feel. Yes, it had an atrium, kinda cool. I enjoyed my orning coffee in the atrium.
The bad.
1. Light switches. never stayed in a place that had no light switches to control room lights. Each 'sconce' had to be turned on individually. And turned off... geez. Exception: an entry light (sconce) and the bathroom.
2. No outlets. Well, really, there were 4 wall plates. 3 on one wall (tv, desklamp...) the only other outlet in the room was by the nightstand... clock and sleep number occupying it. So, if I wanted to work on my laptop on the bed (which I did) I had to strecth the cord across the room and lie awkwardly to reach the computer. weird...
3. Telephone charges. I thought this 'level' of hotel didn't charge for phone usage... WRONG.
4. Coffee out by 8:30am. So if you're going to have coffee out, can we at least have coffee in it? there's 50 people working, running around, but we're out of damn coffee. Goodness.
The ugly.
Horrible thin walls, 1.5" gap under the door to the hall, it is LOUD in the room. I also heard the upstairs guests walking around. Loud air conditioner (old-school AC). Maybe I'm just getting old... but goodness, I heard EVERYTHING going on in the hall. All night.
All in all, disappointed in the Radisson. but I'm a detail guy. Apparently, they are not. I guess it just won't work out for us, I'm afraid. We should see other guests or hotels. Take care. We can still be friends.
