Since we could not get reservations inside of Yosemite National Park for an impromptu visit, we went with this lodge since it is very close and the drive into the Valley floor is only about 20 minutes. We were very pleasantly surprised. Everything was immaculate, up to date and well laid out. This is a pretty large complex with several outdoor pools, one indoor (great for our family of redheads who sunburn at the drop of a hat), a restaurant with a wide range of offerings, a very quaint and very well priced gift shop and a self service mini market with sundries and food items.
We were not able to get a riverview room and a fireplace room for August (100+ degrees) was going overboard. Nonetheless, our "regular" room was very spacious, had a balcony, supersized bathroom, great TV and a little kitchen area with frig, microwave, toaster and small stove. I am very particular about kitchen facilities in hotel rooms and this one was well-stocked, everything worked and it was very clean. My only negative comment would be about the towels. They were thin and left something to be desired, especially after a dip in the pool. On the other hand, the air conditioner, with remote control, was the quietest hotel ac I have ever encountered.
The Lodge was relatively quiet when we checked in during the afternoon, but in the evening (when everyone comes back from Yosemite Park), it was packed. There was a convivial atmosphere with people dining outdoors, strolling on the grounds and chatting by the pools.
All of the people who work there are friendly and strive to make your stay pleasant. We really enjoyed it.
