Since we could not get reservations inside of Yosemite National Park for an impromptu visit, we went with this lodge since it is very close and the drive into the Valley floor is only about 20 minutes. We were very pleasantly surprised. Everything was immaculate, up to date and well laid out. This is a pretty large complex with several outdoor pools, one indoor (great for our family of redheads who sunburn at the drop of a hat), a restaurant with a wide range of offerings, a very quaint and very well priced gift shop and a self service mini market with sundries and food items.

We were not able to get a riverview room and a fireplace room for August (100+ degrees) was going overboard. Nonetheless, our "regular" room was very spacious, had a balcony, supersized bathroom, great TV and a little kitchen area with frig, microwave, toaster and small stove. I am very particular about kitchen facilities in hotel rooms and this one was well-stocked, everything worked and it was very clean. My only negative comment would be about the towels. They were thin and left something to be desired, especially after a dip in the pool. On the other hand, the air conditioner, with remote control, was the quietest hotel ac I have ever encountered.

The Lodge was relatively quiet when we checked in during the afternoon, but in the evening (when everyone comes back from Yosemite Park), it was packed. There was a convivial atmosphere with people dining outdoors, strolling on the grounds and chatting by the pools.

All of the people who work there are friendly and strive to make your stay pleasant. We really enjoyed it.

From the outside, the Lodge looks like a badly laid out low-end apartment complex, but don't let that fool you. Our second floor river view room was spacious, regal and relaxing. Toss in the private patio overlooking the river and the 2-shower jacuzzi, and you'll find a perfect complement to experiencing Yosemite, whose west entrance is just down the road. Several pool options are available to guests - our only complaint being that they are closed at 10:00pm, at least an hour too early to accommodate stragglers coming in late from the park. And don't come in late with an appetite. The two restaurants close at 9:00 and the amply stocked store is off-limits after 11:00. The Lodge's $9.95 breakfast buffet is top notch. This is our second Yosemite visit in three years, and we'll no doubt be back, and when we do, Valley View will be a top choice for lodging.

This hotel is ideal for yosemite park. Room was large with fire and kitchen. it also had a large jacuzzi. We had a river overlook which was good. The only complaint was the nosie from people upstairs. The restuarant in the hotel was fantastic with good food, great views and friendly staff. Good experience at this hotel. Would recommend.

We were expecting a dumpy motel after some of the reviews, but found the rooms were all recently furnished and set up well. We had rooms in the new building with balconies overlooking the river. In May, the water was still rushing and it was almost too loud - but very relaxing. The kitchenettes were a plus and we brought our own food, so the room expense didn't seem so bad. Nice pools and there a few. The only downside was the front desk staff who seem perpetually confused and are very slow.
This is a comfortable place to stay and just at the park entrance. We all had a nice time and I would stay here again.

“Soul-less but convenient.”

Yosemite View Lodge

Yosemite View Lodge is a bit soul-less, rather like a block of 60s council flats (UK) - but it is very convenient hotel for Yosemite. The room was large and fairly comfortable, but dark with noisy air conditioning. However it was lovely to sit out on the little concrete balcony overlooking the river. Unfortunately the ground floor rooms have high metal fences on 3 sides of their terrace, giving the area a 'prison yard' feel, and blocking their view of the river. Ground floor rooms are also over-run with squirrels, so choose floor 2 or 3. We didn't use the restaurant, but can recomment the take-away pizzas!
