“Good Location, Nice Hotel.”

We did not reserve a hotel room prior to arriving in Eureka, CA. We were doing something different and just winging it. LOL. Anyway, we first stopped at the Clarion but it was a little scary and not up to par. We arrived at the Best Western on Hwy 101 (there are 2 in Eureka). Marcy at the front desk was very friendly and professional. We had stopped at 2 other hotels in addition to the Clarion and they were both booked. We just crossed our fingers and hoped the Best Western had a room that was adequate. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, neat and clean. The vanity with sink is located outside the bathroom and had a granite top and good space for toiletries, very nice and convenient. The carpet and spread were clean and everything looked well kept. Our room faced the parking lot so I was a little concerned about noise, but really had no problem with noise. Seems like this might be a quiet part of town. There is a continental breakfast and heated swimming pool, but we did not try either. I’ve stayed at a few Best Westerns over the years and the quality is quite variable. This was a nice, clean well-kept hotel with wonderful service. Checkout was quick and the morning personnel were also friendly. We had a double queen room and this is a non-smoking hotel. Would definitely recommend if you are staying in Eureka, but be sure to reserve ahead. We were lucky we got a room.

We were able to book a lovely apartment here that was supposed to sleep our family of six. However, the pull out couch did not pull out and the "double" rollaway was only a single. When we discovered the problem with the couch however, the staff was quick to bring in 2 rollaways. The room was clean and featured a full kitchen with refrigerator and ice makeras well as a dining room. It is across the street from a mall, where there is a food court and movie theatre. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna were nice as was the guest laundry room. The business center is dismal with very old slow computers, making it difficult to just check e-mail. The full breakfast was very nice.

Me and the missus stayed here for 1 night in late June. I find the downtown area of Eureka not much to look at, but this Inn was a very nice place to stay. Our room with a single king sized bed was huge, spotless and must have just been remodeled. The free breakfast was good (I loved the make your own waffles) and every corner of the Inn was clean and fresh. Definitely a place to stay in Eureka. Great value.

If you have got to spend the night in Eureka, Ca., and I wouldn't recommend it unless you have to, this is a great find. Room was immaculately clean, recliner was nice after a long day in the car, wireless connection was strong ( on a sixteen day trip, it was the only location whose signal was stong), and breakfast buffet was excellent. The staff was also very nice and more than helpful in suggesting a restaurant (other than the Marie Callenders next door, which they are probably encouraged to push).

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay - good value for the money.

Highlights - service was unusually good. Our luggage was delayed, so they sent a care package of toiletries to our room immediately. The next morning, they called around to try to locate our luggage. We didn't even think to ask for any of this - they just did it, and I was very impressed.

Downstairs room - on the first leg of our trip, we stayed in a first floor room near pool. That room was fine, but bathroom fan was unusually loud - felt guilty going in there too early or late, like I would wake everyone in the vicintiy. We didn't go in the pool/spa, but it looked really nice.

Upstairs room - on the second leg, we were given a bay view room with fireplace. This is not an attractive view, so I would not spend extra for it. And it overlooks some sort of RV yard.

Location - right across street from grocery store and and adjacent mall. Many nearby restaurants. Our local friends recommended these: we had great pizza on 4th St at Big Louie's. Also fabulous steaks at A&A Bar & Grill (more of a local dive bar than a grill- just expect that and go for the steak).
