We did not reserve a hotel room prior to arriving in Eureka, CA. We were doing something different and just winging it. LOL. Anyway, we first stopped at the Clarion but it was a little scary and not up to par. We arrived at the Best Western on Hwy 101 (there are 2 in Eureka). Marcy at the front desk was very friendly and professional. We had stopped at 2 other hotels in addition to the Clarion and they were both booked. We just crossed our fingers and hoped the Best Western had a room that was adequate. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, neat and clean. The vanity with sink is located outside the bathroom and had a granite top and good space for toiletries, very nice and convenient. The carpet and spread were clean and everything looked well kept. Our room faced the parking lot so I was a little concerned about noise, but really had no problem with noise. Seems like this might be a quiet part of town. There is a continental breakfast and heated swimming pool, but we did not try either. I’ve stayed at a few Best Westerns over the years and the quality is quite variable. This was a nice, clean well-kept hotel with wonderful service. Checkout was quick and the morning personnel were also friendly. We had a double queen room and this is a non-smoking hotel. Would definitely recommend if you are staying in Eureka, but be sure to reserve ahead. We were lucky we got a room.
