Still had $$$ left on a gift card, so we tried again, with family from out of town. Unfortunately, it was St. Pat's Day, though we went "early" (6 PM) before a show at Hutchins St. Square. There were several tables on arrival, none on departure. Food was OK, lukewarm like last time. Service was marginal; one meal didn't come until about 5 minutes after the other three. We had the table-side guacamole, which is fun, but mostly a novelty. Likewise the menu. There are some interesting, unique items, but I ended up with enchiladas.
For us the noise level is a deal-breaker. I knew from the last visit that I needed my earplugs, but the others in our party did not bring that equipment. For certain people, the noise would not be an issue, and in some circles the atmosphere would be called "energetic". For me, and my wife, it will keep us from going back. Even the lukewarm food, which is unusual in most decent Mexican restaurants, is an ongoing issue at the new location.
So, sad to say, we know of other restaurants in the Lodi area that better meet our needs and desires when we dine out. I hope the owner/management solve some of these issues. The person who first sent us to the old location, had the same comments about the new place, without any prompting from me.
